Hi All -
Is there any reccommended replacement nut for the transmission side cover? The PET lists part # 999 090 101 02 - self locking nut - which is NLA. Can I just use nylocks? The reason for replacement is that I noticed I was missing s few washers under a few of the nuts. Went to replace them and noticed the nuts were a bit different. Thanks for any help - Scott S |

The original nuts have Helicoil inserts, just like the exhaust nuts at the heads. They weren't locking nuts. Use plain old readily available common nuts. Flat washers, too, not any kind of lock washers.

And if you want to go for an original look source "heavy" nuts. They are just a bit thicker than standard (8mm vs about 6 mm).
Don't over-torque as all it will do is spin the stud in the case. Richard |
