I've been noticing a slight grinding/vibration sensation through the front end whenever turning much off-center.
Today, I took my 914 to an open lift day at a local Porsche shop. I was just hoping to see if there was vertical play in the wheels, but my mechanic was kind enough to remove the front wheels and pull the outer bearing. It was in rough shape and he recommended that I should soon replace "all the bearings". (They are original on a car with at least 130K miles.) I've gathered there's inner & outer bearings for the front wheels, presume there's something roughly equivalent in the rear... So my questions are: 1. Can someone help me understand what "all the bearings" would include? 2. Pelican seems to have reasonably priced OEM-brand, is that what I want? 3. Anything else I should do "while I'm in there"? (No, not interested in 5-lug hubs.) |
