Now that 2-OH! is back together and running with new motor, new paint, new interior, etc...I need to get it insured correctly...
Allstate requires an apprasial and if I go to their appraiser I'm sure not to get a fair and correct amount...The guy never heard of 914 and even less likely to have ever seen one...forget restored condition... Does anyone in the Seattle area know of a place to take the car for a true, honest appraisal ??? 2-OH! |

rick, i believe geoff (bleyseng) used a pca evalutation for his insurance value. i think he got the info via the website. after seeing your car (and guessing the money spent) i think you should push for the mid 9's. use ebay sales and values from the classifieds to help prove your point

The 914 Excellent price report is usually very generous ($5K for a car in poor condition???). I'd use it if you can find a copy.
The other way to go is to get collector car insurance. You must have the car garaged and only use it for pleasure though. The nice thing though is that I pay $300/year for full coverage, agreed value, and no deductible for both my '74 914 2L and my '81 911SC. |

QUOTE not when they say i can I don't find it that restrictive. I don't really want to drive my Porsches in bumper to bumper traffic down 80 and park them in West Berkeley anyway so for me collector insurance works great. |

Rick, I just loaned my copy of Excellence with the 914 market report to Shane on Saturday! I don't remember what month it was, but he will chime in I hope...

To insure your car for the maximum value (IMHO) collector car insurance is the way to go. Mine is insured for about 4k more than I paid for it and about 2k more than its worth.
If you are worried about the restrictions, just shop around. The various companies can differ quite a bit. I have Aon (K&K) and it only cost $100 for the 1st year with no deductibles, no mileage limit either. There seem to be quite a few restrictions, like the car must be in a locked garage, no to and from work/school, no errand running, etc. But for a nice weather/weekend warrior car it was the way to go for me. And are they watching you all hours of the day? Probably not. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

When I was researching Hagerty, I had feedback from one person who got a payout on their car with pretty much zero problems.
