This may be obvious, but I didn't find anything about it when I searched for bushings. I've done a bunch of stuff on my car, but up until now I have never replaced the front suspension bushings. They didn't have any slop in them and they generally looked fine, so let sleeping dogs lie.
Well I finally replaced them and I discovered something interesting in the process. While the bushings apperared OK, it seems they had sagged to the point that the torsion bar was rubbing on the cross member where it passes through it. Fortunately I, only by luck, found this before I had cut some big notches in the bars.
Now I have to admit I've autocrossed this car a lot in the past 5 years on R compound tires. I just thought I'd send this out to all you guys, like me, who just haven't gotten around to doing new bushings. Do it. Soon.
