Is there any way of installing some sort of rev limiter on a stock 73 4 cylinder?
I could just invision letting someone drive my car and they would over rev it and do damage. Also I like to get carried away at times

Any kind of aftermarket ignition box will work, such as the MSD 6AL, Jacobs, Mallory, etc, etc.

I need one myself... The 2270 will spin to 7500 with ease and keep pulling... I found that out this past Auto-X!!!

Later,

You could always purchase a rev limiting rotor. I've used them before and they are cheap insurance and easy to add.

Pelican sells the rotors for less than $21. There may be other parts houses that sell for less...

very first thing that went into the trash when i bought my car ...

i don't like anyone to tell me when they *think* my revs are too high.
it's a control thing, you know.

I have a rotor.. but I doubt you'd want to use it.. unknown condition...

Just buy a rotor man... You dont need to be spinnin your engine past 5800(or whatever it is) anyways...

One thing about the rev limiting rotors is it's not supposed to be used as a shift light. In other words, don't be hitting it all the time, it's not a soft touch limiter.

When you hit the rev limit it grounds out killing the ignition. This loading and unloading the engine can cause rod bearing babbit over time, not good. This rotor is made for blown shifts and the like, so it won't hurt to hit it once and a while, just don't be hitting it all the time.

I can't remember the specifics...
but years ago, before we went electromotive we would buy a rev limiting rotor from a 911 to fit on our -4 race car.

Instead of 5800 you had a higher option, I believe 6300 or something like that....

I somehow think it was from a 1971 911T, but could be way off...

or buy the -4 rotor for 25bucks.

Ya I definitaly plan on buying the rotor. Im getting because of a precautionary measure not because I want to use it as some sort of device telling me when to shift. My ears do that.

So thanks everyone!
