People are often more impressed by my brother's Ghia than my 356 when they are parked together...mumble, mumble.

I took the car out of the garage yesterday. Weather was more than fine. Wiped off the dust, hoovered the carpet and seats. Then I started the car. It ran flawlessly!

My plan: taking it out for a spin this afternoon. But guess what: yesterday evening the weather turned and there's now 2 inches of snow all around.

So... it's still in the garage, waiting for better times and roads without salt.

Yesterday I installed thermal insulators between the Weber carbs and PMO intakes. I ran the car up toward Peyson AZ then shut it down to see the differential between the two metal intake components.

The numbers are these.

When running at idle after a good run:

Cylinder 1:

108.8 at the intake and 84.3 at the carb body

#2. 106.6 / 88.3

3. 111.3 /93.1

4. 108.8/83.5

5. 110.4/85.1

6. 109.1/88.1

18 to 25 degree difference between carb body and intakes. An improvement to be sure. But not a solution to hot idle.

More boring detail after tomorrow and a run up the mountain. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Had to get one of the dirt bikes ready for an upcoming event, should be finished tomorrow (except for the new chain - which is on order). This pushed the Ghia's work back about a week, which pushed the 'BB's work back a few weeks as well (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Also, got a new bicycle for my 64th birthday - wifey says my 'spare tire' is getting fatter and I should get more exercise. While we're on the subject of fat tires ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Attached Image

It folds in half and I think it might fit in one of the 'BB's trunks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) - I'll have to see ...

Yeppers, it's a Rad Mini. I've been busy on another project (or two), so haven't put more than a few miles on the fat bike yet - however, when the electric motor kicks in, one can definitely feel it (nothing like a 930 Turbo though) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Still waiting for the stem cells to do their trick. Got the injections in late December and the doctor said it would take a few to several month to realize any benefits ... been seeing my chiropractor as well, and feeling fairly well. I just try not to do anything real strenuous yet. Thanks for asking.

Looks like your making pretty good headway on your project (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

You bought an electric bike to get more exercise? Guess if you pedal until you are tired the motor will get you home?
Room for a solar panel on that thing?

I'm not...no car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Should have it back from paint in about 2 weeks and then the real work starts...reassembly, wiring repair, interior etc....

Its going to be a shit ton of work!

The electric motor greatly extends the range and helps a lot going up hills. It has a 7-gear cassette, but I can already see that I need a larger front sprocket. The highest gearing is 42t ~ 11t.

I doubt I could fit enough solar to provide an effective charge, the battery is 48 volts, 14Ah.
