Finally went and legally registered the 914 into my name with the DMV.

Car has not been registered in over 6 years, luckily it only cost me $165 total.

Dude, didn't you fill out a 'Statement of Facts' form? Would have saved you more $. Last year, I registered a car that hadn't been registered since 1980 and it only cost me $70. On the Statement of Facts form, I stated that the car had been in storage and not driven on CA roadways in all those years.

Screw CA's exorbitant tax scheme ... I'm registering my Tacoma in AZ next week. CA DMV wants $162. + a $60. smog check (which it would pass with flying colors, should I have to do it). In any event, no smog check required in AZ, and the registration will be: $4. to transfer to CA title to an AZ title and $19. to register it for a year. Also, my insurance is half the cost of the same coverage in CA. That comes up to $376. recurring savings - annually ... just on that vehicle alone (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

Did not know that option. The lady at AAA mentioned that the PO paid over $600 in back fees for the vehicle already. I think when he got the car is sat for a few years unregistered as well.

Too late to worry about it now.

Little bit of a tidy up and small jobs done.

Fitted the interior door release levers.

fitted the welting and trim to decklid grills.

Couldn't get to porsche for blower clamp bolts due to the snow/ice.

Gave up on the ashtray fitting (couldn't be bothered with that today.

Sprayed the backplate for the decklid latch.

Finally adjusted my carbs as they were running a tad lean. No more popping and idles around 800.

Went to a local cars and cofee and ran into these two beauties. They are both for sale. The orange one has around 25k miles and is in the 40k range and the black one is a 6 and is in the 90k range. I can get you in contact with the seller if you are interested. If I had the money, I'd buy the 6....

Drove the camera car (Porsche SUV) and attended the shoot of a just completed 98% accurate 914GT tribute Appearing in the May issue of Panorama. The GT built motor is set up for track, has many trick and unobtanium parts. Since it is primarily a track car, it makes a sound that makes the gods sit up and take notice. The braaps could be heard for a half mile. Positively awesome.

Over 2000 shots were taken, on-car, in car, camera car, in bucolic scenery, garage, etc. Fascinating process and learned about photography and how to quickly dodge potential head-ons while driving in the wrong/oncoming lane. It was a very good day.

You will have to wait until May to see this work 5 years in the making.

I do weird things to my cars, like mixing Porsche parts from other vintages/models. I installed GT door panels today with a set of 356 door pulls.

I like how it turned out. I'm weird.

I'm not a fan of the big box on the door. I'll deal with it.

Won't be able to do any real work on the 914 for a few weeks, had a biopsy this morning on a lump on the arch of my foot to see if it the source of my cancer, the "boot" is going to slow me down!..however I did make it to FedEx to ship off my old back pad to Stewie.

For future reference, with the back pad taken apart, the box I made is 10x24x34 and weighs 25 pounds, cost $44 via FedEx from the Bay Area to Seattle.

Guess I'll have plenty of time to draw and program parts. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/type.gif)

Mike, save that boot when finished with it. They have some bodacious HD Velcro straps. Question out of ignorance. If that is the source or origin what then? Does it make the cure that much closer? Kent (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Mueller good luck with the diagnosis/prognosis, hope it's good news (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I fitted my fuel tank in place in readiness to plumb it in. It makes a hell of a difference with it in as it fills that hole pretty much completely. Resto is making progress and now I can see it.

Just ordered some sealing washers for the pipe connections to the tank. Haven't decided if I'm going to weld up the 10mm pipe or pipe and plug it. I'm using the 8mm only for my carbs set up.
