Made and installed a mount for my "wide screen" GPS that I bought during Rte 66. My 16 year old TomTom finally went to heaven and I bought this one at a truck stop a bunch of us stopped at for awhile. I saw this Garmin on sale and bought it. I didn't stop to think (a common occurrence) and didn't realize till much later it was made for a TRUCK. A very large TRUCK. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Hence the 7 1/2 inch screen. I couldn't mount it on the windshield for obvious reasons. I can pair it to my cell phone and can also pair it to a back up camera. I'm hoping I'll be able to get re-runs of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)

Nice Elliot...first Big Screen I've seen in a teener and all I wanted in my car during Route 66 was a stupid cup holder....working on it!!!

I hung on to my Garmin because it still works when I am outside on cell tower range.

The phone navigation only works if you have cell reception.

Got the transmission & starter all bolted up. Then proceeded to cut out the rusty trunk. I probably need a tetanus shot..

Looking good, Travis. How'd you cut out the trunk panel? ... saws-all? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif)

(I need to replace a section of the front trunk pan in the 'BB' (EX-A/C car).

I used a HF air powered sawzal thingy. Broke in 10 minutes, then went to a cutoff wheel and that did the trick

Took the 914 out to a vintage tractor show. Back home I did a bit of work on the Fuchs wheels I want to put on the car. A bit scuffed up, this one needed some welding.
(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/photos.smugmug.com-20461-1525613591.1.jpg)
A bit of research revealed that they are forged from 6082 grade aluminium, very similar to 6061. I chose a 5183 rod for good strength and colour match. A bit of work on it...
(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/photos.smugmug.com-20461-1525613595.2.jpg)
and things are looking good.
(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/photos.smugmug.com-20461-1525613595.3.jpg)
The previous owner had painted the wheels white so I've spent a bit of time getting rid of the paint and polishing the petals. Will eventually repaint the black around them. Should give the silver 914 a bit more street cred!
