Changed out my brake lines and cut out the exhaust heat shield. Cleaned up the engine area a little and now it's time to put the engine back in. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Drove the -6 around a bit to make sure the passenger half shaft is okay now that I've reattached it. Went to the FLAPS for more bullet fuses, because these are not the fuses you're looking for...

Yeah, those aren't doing anybody any favors.

Fuses are rated for the load of the device(s) and current traveling on the wires in a particular circuit.


If fuses are blowing with standard headlights, it's possible that the electrical connections are corroded and causing increased current draw. If that's the case, clean up ALL the electrical connections in the circuit (headlight socket plug, relay contacts, all those red wires at the (+) battery terminal, the fuse box terminals and the brown ground wire terminals). Increasing fuse size is actually going to create a worse condition as the wiring could burn up before the fuse(s) blow open.

If someone installs higher current draw devices, then the wire size may need to be increased in that circuit. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

We detailed it and drove to Chino Hills, So. Cal., to Friends of Steve McQueen car show at the Boys Republic. I entered the 914 for judged class , and there was a tough bunch of hot cars like 427 Cobras, american muscle, 997 turbos, GT2 rs, all sorts of 911s, 914-6. I was totally shocked when I heard my name announced for the award for "Cool Style" award.
Freeman Thomas was one of the judges (911 R Gruppe), and he really dug our car.

gave the car a once over, Went to the PartsHeaven swap meet. Nice to see some guys who were worried if I was dead or gone missing after I got abandoned on the side of the road durring the WCR drive.

P R O T O T I P O!!!!! Woot woot. Had to modify my column to accept a 72+ Momo hub, as Momo doesnt make a hub for a 70/71 914/4 anymore. Also installed the JWest Hub Centric kit to give the legs a bit more room.

Fuel gauge never reads more than 3/4 or 4/5 full. So, I removed fuel gauge sender, using this great tutorial:

Tested resistance of sender wire and found 76 ohm on empty (float at bottom) and 14 ohm at full (float at top). Cleaned sender wires with alcohol, which reduced resistance to 5 ohm when float in full position. Filled up tank and it now reads all the way full! Also, lubed all hinges and rollers for front and back trunks, hood/trunk/engine cover releases, and door hinges.

1. Installed right axle.
2. Installed rear shift rod.
3. Finally put tires back on it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
4. Tinkered with the idle a bit.

After being on jackstands for 3 years. I finally drove it with the new 2056 engine I just rebuilt.

The MPS is funky. So it will have to sit until the component tester gets here and I can adjust the MPS.
Geoff's giving some help with creating an 037 with a good 041.
