I had a rare but fun weekend working on my 914 where it was stored. I fixed the brakes dragging issue (venting clearance),Attached Image

changed the oil and put her away until my next visit in good company.

Attached Image

I then took stock of all the projects I still have to do, but she is still lots of fun to drive.

Then, while not 914, I installed my Dad's recently re-upholstered seats in his '69 911S.

Beautifully done by Paterek in NJ.

Need to throw a dead body or something in the rear trunk to get it back down to the spec height (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif)

They are kyb shocks and standard length springs. The picture was cropped to meet the upload limit but now it looks contorted.

Good photo!

Is that portion (barriers, fencing, grandstands) of the circuit permanent, or is it disassembled after each race? Since you were on it, I assume it is a public road.

The way people drive [way over the speed limit] on our city streets out here anymore, they might as well leave the track in place ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Yesterday had a strong gas smell in the garage. This is not ideal since my propane heated hot water tank lives about 20’ away. Sniffed the frunk, engine bay and cabin and nothing obvious. But on the passenger side the smell was strong. Looking under the car, there was a wet spot on the concrete floor directly under hell hole.

The fuel line which runs from the tin to the line exiting the tunnel was cracked. Since I don’t stock fuel line, a 10 min drive to Bernie’s garage and half an hour later a new line was fitted.

The hot water heater can now rest easy and so can we since it’s below our bedroom.

While the car was on the lift, I spotted rust on the left rear quarter behind the wheel, so I sanded it down and treated it with Rust Mort. Tomorrow is prime and paint day.

Is that a dragging rear brake issue? Mine does the same but to a lesser degree and I figured it was the rear toe alignment that was a bit too much toe in. I'll have to check on the brakes first I guess. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

With all those air-cooled vehicles you have, don't you have a lift of some sort?
