Agonized getting the squares to line up on the glove box door to match the one piece dash face I installed earlier in the week. Starting to come together.

FORGOT to add I drove it up and down our 1/2 mile drive yesterday, totaling 2 whole miles!

And getting plates for it tomorrow and putting it on the road!

Cleaned the glass today, put top in trunk for tomorrow's drive.....

HOORAY! Finished my 2nd rebuild of the carbs last night and was so sure engine would start and run well that I had my wife do the honors this morning.

Sure nuff, after 13 years this old baby started right up and was purring like a kitten! Even drove it up and down our private road a couple times!

Will title and register car next week and get it on the road - then, a thousand small details to work on to make this car what it needs to be.

Yes - I'm a really really really happy Teener!

Technically yesterday now, but after ~5 years sitting idle, it runs again.

https://www.facebook.com/BernalDadsRacing/v...30859724535331/

Huzzah! To celebrate, we took it to lunch. A bit warm, but made it home in one piece, can't ask for more than that.

Getting ready for Mosport... Long overdue.
Attached Image
Spacers to spring mount on the old shocks look like muffler pipe... They are Bilstien shocks though. Lock rings tack welded in place. Kit from Auto atlanta. 150 pound Eibach springs.... they're only 8" free but I think it's all going to work. Sleeve needs to extend past the top of the shock body to get spring tension. Put them down as far as I dare and added a foam bumper. Probably not needed.

They're in, need to be adjusted higher. Adjustment wheel too high up to get a tool on.... might have to pull them back out to do it. Note to self, order 10" springs next time!

Got the 914 registered & plates for it - it hits the road for the first time in 13 years! And does great! Cannot believe a car handles this well without sway bars!

More details on my "Newbie" thread......

Yeah - I've got a ways to go, but I'm a happy Teener......

Got the '76 idling smoothly tonight after finding loose spark plug wire, can't wait to hit the road tomorrow! Car has not idled smoothly or run well for over 13 years.......

If all goes well tomorrow as I expect, we will be celebrating!

Wow! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Where did you source the custom bumper and valance ? And, you have a water-cooled Subaru, IIRC, does the engine run on the hot side ?

That's Ben's GT Mod bumper @mb911

I did the final prep and rechrome. It took two attempts but you can see results. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Wes @wes was very patient...thank you.

My last bumpers are in process now.

The custom GT bumper nicely altered by Ben and beautifully chromed by Oscar, thanks to both of them. The oil cooler is a Patrick motorsports kit and there fiberglass valance hopefully temporary as I would like to get one from Ben Once he gets to doing them. The engine was a stock 914 2.0 4 now transformed to a stroker 2.377cc 4 estimated 150 hp w/82mm stroke, custom (Buick) crank, 96mm forged pistons, scat 5.325 Chevy rods, IDF 40 Dellorto carbs. She was Balanced and blueprinted by Fat Performance and assembled by Abacus racing. She ran hot enough I decided the best cooling would be up front, $$ but very effective. I’m extremely happy with the way that little car preforms and handles now. I loved, drove and abused my “74” for years and I always wanted more power. One day I finally broke down and stripped her down to bare metal repainted with the original chrome yellow, all new 914Ruber rubber along with to much to mention here of Mark’s other good stuff. Yes I love my little 914 and one day she will likely be handed down to our 2 boys.

Thanks Ben! Now for that matching valence I’m patiently waiting for. I have a old 914 valence if you need. The plastic one on their now will get me by fine till you’re ready. Thanks again!

Found the problem why the gas pedal was so hard to move on my daily driver. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Replaced the rod and pedal, much much better now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)
