Disassembled, cleaned, lubed, and reassembled the door handles, locks, and latches on both sides. Unbelievable difference.

A few days old, but put in 1.8 original distributor (0 231 181 009) a few days ago with a Pertronix 1847V Ignitor and engine ran like new - for about 15 minutes.

Suddenly cut off, and as I suspected, the Ignitor died. Returning for warranty claim- Pertronix agreed it was installed correctly - and no, module was not over-heating - but they are wanting to blame my Bosche Ultra plug wires - as it cannot be found anywhere what they really are......

Got the '73 car titled, tagged and insured then took it out for a drive (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)
Then did a quick polish on the dull paint to make it look somewhat better (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
When my wife got home, took her for a drive around the "country block" just so she could see what she was in for (she hasn't been in a 914 for a long, long, long time). She approved of the top off but wondered about the noise when I accelerated (carbs (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) )
Should be an interesting trip to Florida.

To keep the marriage intact, buy her some good earplugs.

With my carbed-6 I find earplugs essential if driving for longer than a half hour. Ringing ears are no fun.

26 years later I have the tools and time to work on the 914. Found a previous repair that isn’t too much of a surprise. The rocker covers were held in by drywall screws and caulk.

You might look into fabricating a quieter filter housing arrangement. There's a mod that utilizes a couple of Honda Godlwing air-boxes that supposedly reduced the intake noise substantially.

Also, CB Performance also has some nifty carb components to help one fabricate quiet but still efficient options. A couple of these plumbed to a remote filter will help reduce the decibel level too.

Worked on the headlights on the GT car, cleaned up the ground stud behind the bucket a bunch using a dremel and a tiny brass wire wheel, it made it better but the when I connect a headlight on the drivers side its still obviously under powered. Might have to replace the headlight plug next, anyone have this problem before?

Yes, they came from Car-bone. has the exact imprinting and the circular cuts that make it almost impossible to remove with out ruining it.

I will get the rest of the stickers later but only one in the US that has the door jam compliance sticker is AASE and its 2x as much and I bet they get it from Car-bone anyway, took less than a week and I had it here from Poland!!

I wanted them before Amelia Island and Werks reunion. Very happy with it.

Hi Eric9144 - I am sure you already did this but did you try swapping the headlights side to side just to be sure it's a car problem and not a headlight problem? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Yes, I did try that. Problem is @ the bucket not the headlight itself.
