I got around to sorting through a bunch of 914 parts that have been stacking up in the garage for almost a year.

Trying to consolidate all the parts for 'HOWARD' in fewer boxes, but still don't have any place to store them right now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) ... I really need to go through the shed and start rounding up all the parts I won't be needing and toss them in the trash ...

... kidding ... I'll be posting them in the classifieds at some point.

Phil -

I have 6 motorcycles, most old, 10 years to 49 years old - but the beauty of owning them is you can wake up and think, "what do I feel like riding today?"

Part of the way I'm wired is I love variety - and I'm 48% left-brained, 52% right-brained (which keeps me internally in a state of war).

Just as you can't really compare the cars, you can't the bikes either. When asked which bike is my favorite, the answer is always the same: "The one between my legs...."

Having never driven a Maserati, I cannot relate - but as I know they are world-class cars, I'm sure it is a delight to drive. Yes - keep it! You can get a Cayman when the Maserati gets old......just be sure to get an S......tho Rickb45 just got an '11 base model otherwise like mine (same color) and it's plenty fast for him....

i am sure for the 200 mile trip the Cayman is best of both worlds, but if you are going for 50 mile drive in the mountains on the twisties the 914 has to be the way to go!! nice problem to have- been kind of looking at Caymans too, but that means getting rid of my Maserati, not sure i am ready to do that yet.

Finally after many months of not doing anything with it. Today raining but able to pull out the boxster and wife verano out of the garage and did several to the project.

1. Opened the box from 914rubber to check the visor. Beautiful piece!
2. Pull the 914 from the corner using the 4 wheel dollies.
3. Try fitting the triad that I bought from a member
4. Removed old clutch cable, trottle cable and speedo cable
5. Removed the 3 pieces engine bay/tin seal
6. Test fit the dual carb velocity stock

YES! Couple great drives today, filled up on first one. And after an hour tonite on 2nd drive before dark, I said to myself, "Self - I'll bet this would be a good time to do some more tweaking of those idle mixture screws on the carbs......."

So I came back home, set the idle real low - about 500rpm - and did just that. And yes, they needed a little tweaking.....

Took her right out for a spin and SHURE NUF!

MORE BETTER!

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

(there is a great story on the origin of the poor English, "More Better...." - sometime I'll tell it.....been using it ever since about 1980 ......)

Someday I'll get to work on my own car. Turn signal return and adjusting left heater valve wire.
But the last couple days where spent putting an inner stiffening kit in Matt's V8 car.
While Your In Their Stuff, cars going in to get the trunk painted.

Their is a little tuning needed if its going in a street car. Both the seat belt and back pad holes need to be enlarged. Seat belt, up and down. Back pad, side to side.
Next week, GT kit from Mad Dog.

MillerMatic 140 with .023 wire on Autoset. Someday I'll get a flatter puddle. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
I hope they never wreck this car. It's going to take the Jaws of Life to cut it apart.
I believe what your seeing on the floor pan in sprayed on Lizard Skin.
