Did a solo drive up to Alice’s for lunch on my day off today. Nice grouping of cars even for a Monday.

I received it, from Glenn, after he did a fantastic job of putting all the pieces back together again.

And for the first time since 2005, I drove it. thank you @gms

QUOTE(neilbardsley @ Oct 12 2020, 01:35 AM) *

The car arrived today. I bleed the brakes. Starting with the rear and then the front. Then I read the manual which said I had to bleed the front first so I started again. Strangely I couldn't get the brake pedal any firmed. I used a pressure bleeder. Pretty sure I removed all air from the system. Should I of had Mrs B pumping the brakes instead?

Then I changed the oil. It was pretty low. Since this car has sat for a few years. I will run for 100-200 then change the oil again to clean out any crap. I didn't take the strainer off but will do that next time. Less than 3l when in which is strange?

There is a smell of burning oil when the motor is running but I guess there might be some oil in the hear exchangers?

Next I need to get the gears changing but I don't know how to access the coupling? Is it from the black panel between the seat or from under the car?

Check out the bleeding procedure on the PMB website. Worked great for me. This was after a complete new parts swap. Lines, MC, calipers and I took apart and cleaned the pressure regulator. https://www.pmbperformance.com/gravity-bleed.html If your car has been sitting and/or the brake system is in unknown shape you may consider a refresh. My rear soft lines were literally plugged up from age.

You have oil dripping onto your heat exchangers. Make sure they are not leaking or you may have a dangerous situation bringing CO2 into the cabin.

What year car? I just went through and replaced all of the shifter bushings in my tail shifter 1970. They were so worn out I couldn't find any gears. No adjustment will help with that.

After sealing the new metal with Herculiner, I installed the front and rear suspensions and bolted on the wheels... I've got some fender adjustments to make.

Got the bahia red '73 running this AM after a transaxle rebuild and various touch ups to the engine while it was out. A friend who is a long time Porsche mechanic helped with carb tuning, timing etc.

Now that is finally starting to "cool" down the AC'ed cars can come back out to play.

Then started trying to sort out my spare tops to try to get one good one as a 'stock' spare for my car vs the body colored one that's on it... Turned out, out of the 3 I had two were/are early, thankfully the late top is the best one and the right one for my car, so I started prepping itAttached Image Attached ImageAttached Image

Where did you purchase them? I checked the other day and they had gone up about 40% since a little over a year ago it seemed.

Started an Instagram account to post my 914 (and maybe a few other) exploits... Sad part is that I had to have my 14 year old daughter coach me through it. Man I’m getting old!

@djway found them on eBay, they were out of Spain

I'm a slot car junkie (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bootyshake.gif)

The 50th anniversary cars are "hot rodded" so they're a little more expensive, there are also quite a few 914-6 GT cars that aren't anniversary models and they're quite a bit less money.
