Determined to gefigger the wacky idle, I removed the AFM, the schnorkel, and the throttle body. TPS ohmed out as it should. Noticed a little ridge inside where the plate closes, and a little bump on the edge of the brass plate. Smoothed that out with a little 600 and got everything cleaned up.

Then checked the AAR. Was closing, but not making a complete seal. Sprayed carb cleaner in there, some lube, and cycled it a bunch of times.....

Put everything back together.....no difference to speak of. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

But she runs good otherwise (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Got the rear suspension back on after sandblasting, painting, installing new bearings, bushings, and pressing in hubs. Also bolted on a front wheel to the new 5-lug conversion for the first time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)
Those 5-lug ATS wheels look great. Are they 14"? What brand and size tires did you get? I have a set of 14s, not painted (yet) for a 912 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Thanks! They're 15x7 (not sure of offset) and I had them refinished at a local wheel shop. I went the sticky-compound route for tires...Toyo Proxes RA1, 205/50-15 front, and 225/50-15 rear. The rears are going to be a little snug; rolled the fender lip and did a mild pull, but I may need another 1/4" to 1/2" to make it rub-free.

You can also see the trunk cut-out in that pic for the throttle body. Doing a Renegade LS1 conversion. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Just spend the better part of the afternoon "trying" to replace my Rear Sway Bar Drop Link Bushings! Finally got them replaced on the drop links! Damn that was a bitch! Boiled water too! Got one end of link on the sway bar bar with no problem. However, the end that connects to the shock and arm: No way! I even got a "big ass channel locks" from Home Depot and it was not big enough! I will take it to my mechanic next week and he will put it on in five minutes!

Drill little holes in them to allow any air to escape, heat them in water, grease and a C-clamp. Should do it.

Looks good.

I could use that setup today ... it's cooking here.

Taking advantage of the heat, painting some -6 engine tin today (for an old 911, even though I was thinking about 914s) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Edit: Later that day ...

couple patches along the right side of the longs welded in to close up the holes from the A/C lines... and started sorting out how the front trunk pan will go in.

Charged the battery and rolled it out of the garage and started it up.

Let it run for about 10 minutes. Pushed it back in the garage.

Drank a Yuengling. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif)

My oldest son is spending a couple of days with me before college starts. Naturally, I put him to work cleaning up my stainless heat exchnagers!

Traded in my 2yr old Optima battery for a brand new one under warranty and installed it.
Took 914 for a drive or two on the back roads. Running good (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
