Replaced front wheel bearings, reset rear bilsteins to raise rear end just a bit, rebuilt rear shift linkage from firewall back. Also new coco mats. Front end noise gone and car shifts wonderfully now! Took my daughter out on Carmel Valley road for a short blast. I love this car!
May display it at Werkes Reunion in August, we’ll see. A few more things to do. Didn’t get a chance to install the Blaupunkt Frankfurt I bought at G&R’s swap meet a month ago.

Sir David, you have to move your bumble bee here in your Socal House.

Been thinking about it. Ill have to swap with the 308 for awhile as I have no extra room.

I love tinkering with it.

Engine was running hot (Pegging the indicator on the 123 dizzy “dashboard”).

Went one jet size larger for primary and secondary on the Weber 32/36. Ended up setting the 123 to top out at 28 deg overall, which I think is the spec (?), and flattened the curve a bit. It was at 30. I know I shouldn’t change multiple variables at once …

Definitely running a bit cooler. No more backfiring on decel. Do not plan to go further with the jet sizes. She is running a tad rich (dark brown ceramic on the plugs), but better than hot - right?

Thinking about dropping the engine to remove any mouse nests above the cylinders. And getting new engine gaskets while I am at it.

My brother and I took her for a nice little drive. We may go to the Zone 7 Porsche Rocklin Concours on Sunday. Supposed to be a nice gathering of about 50 cars. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

So it rained her most of the night and was still raining this morning. I am not afraid to get my car a little wet, I have driven her in the rain before. But it was raining hard this morning and I was more concerned about getting on the freeway and having some fool crash into me because of the rain. So we left my car at home and went to the PCA event.

As soon as I got there I felt I had made a mistake- (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif) there were many money fine cars present. There were 2 Bumblebees parked right next to each other, both finer looking cars.

OK, next year, my car will be there regardless of the weather. I met a lot of nice people who had beautiful cars. Rocklin Porsche emptied their shop to fit as many cars as possible. Cool location and well handled by both Porsche and Zone 7 PCA. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I tackled a couple of the beginning stages of my 2056 rebuild:

Zinc plated NPT plugs with sealant from McMaster Carr for the oil galleries. I added some Loctite 565 for good measure:

The original crank, freshly machined and ready for a new life with a new, lightened flywheel:

And then mated with new H-beam rods with ARP fasteners:

Did a quick check of the valves and found two a thou over but otherwise fine. Was running a bit hot and read here that overheated heads can mess with the gaps. Figured it worth a quick check.

Overshot the RR camber and need to add back 1 mm to the shims. Lift it up, loosen TAs, add shims, tighten back up, spin around the block to settle the suspension and measure. Alignment is tedious. Now I see why Ray Scruggs says it takes a day and a half the first time.

Thinking through how to make the minute toe adjustments in the rear accurately. That is next.

Drained oil again and removed lower valve cover to find a leak. It was another rocker shaft the migrated in the bore. Super frustrating. Not sure why it is doing this. I am not a novice on the 911 based engines but wtf.

Added 914 Rubber's air deflectors to underside. I'm not hopeful that this will reduce oil temps, but I guess they can't hurt.

Removed back glass.....it had some dark tint on it, along with a bunch of old caulk that needed removal.

Attached Image

This was the toughest back glass I've ever cleaned off......the tint would not peel... mostly had to use the razor blade

Attached Image

A couple hours and a ton of Windex and Carb cleaner later....

Attached Image

Should install later this week.

Sanded off a bunch of what I think is spray on adhesive...and hit some bad spots so that when I install the window it seals well. Looks like there was already some patch work done on the firewall, so I went ahead and put down a first coat of primer after lightly sanding.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll finish the priming and rattle can some yellow on there.

Rear camber dialed in at exactly 0.67 on both sides (target was -0.75). That is satisfying!

Hit it with 3 coats of Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover "Golden Sunset" ...I know....it's rattle can, but it's all gonna be hidden behind the back pad....so what the hell.

Thank you. It is definitely a driver car not a show car but it is very nice for a garage paint job.

Got rid of the old collapsed turbo muffler and 3 bolt flange on the merge collector. I went 2.5” instead of 2.25” stainless with a flanged V band coupler. The muffler is a free flow packed flowmaster FlowFX. I also bent up some door bars for my “cage” that allow for easy access since this is predominantly a street car

Does anyone recognize the header? It’s pretty bitchin. I’m debating on recreating it in stainless or sending this one out to have blasted and coated.
