I think Rick & I need to drive our 914's down to see you before you head to MN.....

Looks like crew-dog is doing a great job!

Crew-dog and I got in about 30 miles today (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Definitely a beautiful day in the neighborhood!

That pink dogwood is just starting to bloom…

Actually did this Saturday before Rick & I took our 914's on about a 130 mile drive on back-road twisties to Gordonsville, VA for some great BBQ......

Been wanting to do this since I first got the 914 running in 2018....

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/hosting.photobucket.com-21449-1712624849.2.JPG)

At night the LED line is nicely mirrrored off the trunk lid for double effect.

Major added safety issue in my thinking......

Lime Rock. Cold but great to feel the car hook up properly when the afternoon sun broke through.

Love this car...especially the two tone bumper.

As most of you locals know, every Friday morning, a bunch of Porsches and other beautiful cars gather @ Newcombs Ranch ( unfortunately still close )

I pretty much only drive my car there and if you haven’t yet I strongly recommend it. It’s an amazing ride! anyway photographer Dennis Collatos snapped me on my way up and thought like sharing the image here (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

You can check the entire collection from Friday here :

Have a great weekend everyone !

Yesterday I replaced the original trans mounts. At first I thought they were the wrong ones until I realized how much the rubber has 'drooped' in 54 years... Large bolts came loose surprisingly easy since I know they haven't been off in 35+years. Are the nuts supposed to have a nylon lock ring on them? With a little bit of oil on the threads I was able to hand thread the nut on to finger tight. If so, where do I get them?

Second project was installing some replacement horns; one was long gone and the second/original just didn't sound right even after disassembly and cleaning. Determined the relay on the fuse panel was bad, swapping that out produced the desired 'beeps', but noticed both panel relays were silver cans with 21068-12 volt 901.615.109.03 on them.
I swapped in a black plastic one I had on hand 21131-12 volt 901.615.109.01.
It worked, but any known differences?

Installed the second strut. Thanks to @clayperrine for the part. Now for hubs and alignment.

Drove the 914 for about two hours; odometer rolled over 246,000 miles (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Outside air temperature climbed from 78 to 83 urging the drive; oil temperature at the end of the 2 hours was right at 210*F (it seemed to climb a couple of degrees after shutting off the car).

Can’t get over how well the car still drives after all of these years.

I really needed to put my head some place else. I remembered I had one more thing to do to my front strutts. I had been hummin and hawwin over this and decided that today was the day. I guess I wouldn't have taken pictures of them unless I was leaning this way. Did I screw up, the strutts were purdies as they were.

Steve -

AGREE!

Wish someone would start making those temp gauges again......George? Mike? Seems like Auto Atlanta or 914rubber would want to do it.

FANTASTIC DAY at Shenandoah PCA Drive and event at Roseland Winery yesterday.

50+ miles of one of the most beautiful drives of my life in mountains surrounding Charlottesville, VA. Rick B. with my in his sweet '72 914......Super 914 race driver/builder Bates McLain led our group in his 951 as his 914 was giving him trouble (mine did on I-64 west to event - but more on that later...).

Here is Bates at start at Flow Porsche.....then more....

Rick's yellow 914 and Bates incredible 951 that some day I hope to own to right....both in this pic.....

It only took an additional month (ish) but, I got the front hood cut and polished. Now I just need to get it aligned on all four corners and a stereo put in and we'll be set to start driving.
