Walked by the 914 today when putting new air cleaners in the spyder. A definite PITA, considering I could change the filters in either 914 in 5 minutes!!

Thought I would go ahead and do the oil pick up mod to prevent the dreaded cracked boss, from over tightening the drain bolt. Pretty simple fix.

58*F in VA today, so ended her long winter's nap a little early. After a thorough checkout, she started on the first rotation (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) Drove her for 33 miles today; hope to make it to 250K this year.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

got around to cleaning 5 years worth of dust out of the rain tray.

the 2 orig rubber spacers finally bit the dust on this disassembly.
they were pretty iffy last time i did this but gave up the ghost and crumbled as i pulled it out this time around.
found some firewall electrical grommets and -------> fit for purpose. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Howard is so nice inside I'm leaving it. So tail shift stuff out and side shift stuff in.
Tangerine racing spherical bushing should be here soon. Just FYI, I put a short shift kit on and at least in this 1971, I didn't need to space it with the 1/2" spacer. Good thing cause I do not have one. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Thanks Bob, getting mine going was going to be a nightmare. Howard is a solid car, it had problems but most of that is fixed already. A few years now I have been restoring and in some cases modifying parts off the other two cars. Now I have a place to put them... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

I took off the megaphones on my new to me 914-6 GT tribute and installed a Dansk muffler. No more ear bleeds and the 3.2 still screams. Revs and idles much more happily.

Just a word of warning.

Porsche has not made those collapsible spare tires in over 30 years. That means you will be lucky if it will hold air when you try to inflate it. More likely it has dry rotted and cracked at the folds, and it won't even inflate. If it actually holds air, I wouldn't count on it holding together long enough for a trip around the block at low speeds.

Now if you have found someone that makes reproduction tires for them, then go for it. Or you can just get the spare from a wrecked Boxster/Cayman. They have aluminum rims and the tires are way newer than the collapsible spare, and they don't require you having a compressor to inflate them.

Not today, but two days ago - new throttle bodies and fuel system in place. Engine fired up straight away and next step is rolling road mapping session as throttle bodies are 45mm in place of previous 48mm, while new Bosch injectors are rated at 330cc/min as opposed to 440cc/min. All in the quest for more torque for the hillclimb events...

That’s some impressive welding on the manifold (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

One of the advantages of running throttle bodies is that they don't care what angle you run them at, so we were able to cut and weld the manifolds to straighten the path into the inlet ports... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
