They're 225/50-15s in back, 205/50-15s up front. Much fender pulling/rolling was needed to clear (plus 15x7 wheels with the right offset), but even so, the fender retains a stock look. I really didn't want to go the boxy flare route.

Indeed! I like the "stock" look also. Does the fender roller really work that well to pull it out far enough without rippling the sheet metal? I've got another idea for flares using the cutouts my buddy cut to fit his metal GT flares. He did a great job, and now I've got stock sheetmetal to play with! We'll see...
I did change my oil today and fixed a wiring short- can't wait to get rid of the 1.7. Looking at the Subie 3.0 and transaxle-seems to make sense to me.

I didn't use a fender roller, just a jack handle with a piece of wood duct-taped to it to spread the load. But first, I used a hammer and dolly to flatten the inside lip. This step will certainly crack and flake the paint off, but mostly from the portion that's rolled underneath, so it's not all that visible. Fenders will require a bit of touch-up paintwork, though.

Then, with the car jacked up a bit, I levered the fender out against the tire with the jack handle. I worked slowly and evenly, doing it in several passes. It takes more effort than you might think, but be careful and the result is a very smooth bulge that's hardly noticeable.

The left side was very tight still, so as a final step (with car off the jack), I stuck a piece of 1x4 wood between the fender and tire, toward the front of the opening. Then, I rolled the car backward, and the friction of the tire sucks the wood nicely between the fender and tire, pushing the fender out in a nicely uniform way. Continue rolling until the wood pops out the back of the wheel opening. I may do this once more with another 1/8" to 1/4" of material for a little more clearance.

That Subie conversion looks cool! Hard part, it seems, is the shift linkage, but as popularity grows I'm sure someone will market a plug-n-play kit.

That's a neat trick for fenders- I've got an aluminum bat I'm gonna try on that. The trans linkage is no problem- I've decided to use a performance built automatic, kind of a poor mans Tiptronic. All the fancy cars now have the "electrically shifted manual transmissions". Whoopdie freakin' doo! If you build an auto with a performance valve body, step up the line pressure and add a Hurst Roll Control hooked up to the magic button on a B&M shifter you can simulate a neutral gear and bang shifts all day. Not much slip and they lock up on top end anyway. No linkage problems, and you can hold hands with your sweetie anytime you want or go draggin' and run the gears like a pro!

Nice run Mike!

Interesting ending to the course... Straight right into the paddock... That could be bad for inexperienced high HP drivers..

Thank you and I agree about the ending. I talked to some people about this. I was a solo safety steward for the SCCA and our local club in IL and this wouldn't be allowed.

Worked on Betsy today trying to get her running for the first time in 20 years. New fuel lines, new fuel pump, gas tank reinstalled after being boiled out and cleaned up.Reinstalled the Weber carbs after having them gone through. Fixed non working throttle cable. More to do tomorrow but for now she just needs gas and a battery to try and start her.

Nice! Looking good... with a Millie's Service Cover it seems too! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I've used mine multiple times this week! Be sure to post photos once it's operational!

Removed both doors and welded bars across the openings. Now I just need to fit the front mount for the rotisserie and up she goes.

Fired Betsy up for the first time in twenty years. Once we get the throttle cable working properly, I hope to take her for a drive.

Drove from Newport to Foxborough to right outside Worcester to pick apples, then back the same route. Wife rode in the car for the first time in 14 years. I drove hard in 5th on the freeway and the temps were good the whole time. Even listened to the Becker radio a bit! (when driving slower)

Ordered a couple sets of main jets for the 'BB' from CB Performance. Just saw the email notification - says they'll be here tomorrow (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif) ... I might make the Halloween run on Oct 34th after all (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

I need the 'BB' running well, because my tow vehicle (Tacoma) will be down for a while (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

In need of some overdue maintenance - ordered a timing belt, water pump, front struts, AC dryer, compressor shaft seal and an AFE permanent air filter element for it.

Lowred and moved the steering wheel and changed the drivers seat belts. Can't tell from here but I think steering wheel is much closer to the center from the drivers view. Respraed the dash, just about ready to take her around the block.
