I had to redesign and build a new hatch for the oil cooler duct work where the hoses
enter the duct up front.

Front suspension out, sway bar going in.

Hard part is done, two more wires and fuel tank can go back in. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

While pulling the front suspension I found something else to fix. A couple somethings. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif)
Front passenger tire went over something it should have never gone over, up and rearward went the impact. Top of the strut tower was pulled downward as the wheel tried to go backwards and the middle suspension connection bracket was also pulled towards the rear and up a little. You could see it in the frunk metal. Moved all the metal back to where it belongs, used the 72 as a guide. I'm going to use the front suspension out of the 72, its never been hit in front, not worth taking a chance.
I also cleaned the wheel wells, wanted to start with a clean canvas. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/FERG.gif)

A big tote, 50/50 simple green and water and a serious scrub brush. Smart & Final.
After the brush had broken everything loose I used 100% simple green in a spray bottle and a roll and a half of paper towels.
I had to move pretty fast here, it is hot here and things dried up quick. Dry it wouldn't wipe off but If it was still wet the
slime wiped right off, down to the paint. So spray and wipe-spray and wipe. Messy but satisfying

Front part of the oil cooler is done, but I want to cover the duct before I put it back in.
One less thing.

Got what touch up I needed done on the paint in the cab, trunk and frunk. for this phase.
Got the upper strut mounts done, just need nuts. These are green top bilsteins, anyone know if these top nuts are M14x1.5's? I just don't want to order the wrong ones. Thanks

You could compare it with a spark plug.

Bottom seal of the fuel cell is leaking ever so slightly... not looking forward to pulling it to fix, PMS rebladdered it less than 2 yrs ago, I'd have thought it would have held a lot longer (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif)
Kind of looks like some of those washers have deformed and/or mushroomed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Yes Sir, they're in a box. I need the seals for behind them. It is almost time to get seals and bearings for the hubs, I will get them then. Thanks for watching out.

Well, it started 3 days ago when I went to take her out for a drive and the rear view mirror was laying on the floor. Still in one piece fortunately.

Used some double stick tape to hold it for the drive, got back and figured this was my sign for replacing the windshield (that I have been wanting to do for about 10 years..).

Got all the chrome strips off with no damage and without breaking/cutting the clips. Windshield lifted right out, the old butyl was solid and not sticking at all.

Assessing the 'while I'm here..', but already ordered a bunch of stuff from 914Rubber in honor of 9/14 day, and getting ready to order the windshield from 914Werke.

Now to just get it done before the cold weather sets in.

Any words of wisdom or gotcha's to avoid would be welcomed.

Harvested the flex lines off the 72 and moved them to the 71. Howard.

Greg has been building a 914-6 conversion GT for our friend HB. I help, but am basically labor. Anyway, this car has the Mad Dog 6 engine mount which is considerably wider than a stock 6 mount and ate up some real estate where the oil cooler thermostat was going to live. Greg came up with what I think is a great solution - he mounted it on the longitudinal then added the thermal switch for the fans in front of the thermostat. Both will now be out of the way, protected and best of all, will clean up the engine compartment and keep the frunk clean too. What do you guys think of this solution?
