Betsy got a clutch adjustment and we also drained the 39 yr old gear oil out of the transaxle and replaced it with fresh stuff. I then towed her home, unhooked her and took her for a short drive. It is just like driving a new 914 only with carbs. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

Steel or glass, 'dude'? Looks good.

I need to do a few things to the 'BB' (in prep for the Halloween Run), but the daily driver needed some attention first. Changed out the front struts on the old Tacoma this evening (lower mount bushings were shot).

Why did I wait so long (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) ... it handles like a new truck again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

theyre glass. its a low budget build. since the car was folding in half when i got it. its so frankensteined together it will never be original again. but its a good solid car now and its coming along really well

Looks good! Is that a Boxster muffler, and is there enough clearance between the transaxle and valance? Maybe with the V-6 is the engine mounts farther forward than the original?

De-crustified and repainted foglight housings and rewired them, and I'm repainting front valance too.

It all started when one foglight came loose and flopped to the side, not even close to lining up with the opening of the grille. And, of course, you can't really tighten the mounting bolt without pulling the valance and bumper.

And yes, Porsche chose to use a 7-mm Allen cap-head bolt for the foglight bracket, so off to Sears for another tool! (Of course, I had the 8 & 10-mm wrenches already!)

Didn't work on the car today but I put a bunch of related stuff up on the door of the garage. That thing that is in the way of the pic is in the way of me working on the car.

I brought mine home from storage. I moved in June and it took that long to get the garage where I feel I could work on it again and have room for everything else in it. it is the only time in the 31 years I have owned it that it has been out of my sight. After that I replaced the brake pads on my daughters 08 Rabbit washed it and changed the oil and filled it with gas. Id prefer to spend the 200$ elsewhere but she does have her daddy wrapped around her little finger (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif)

Yep, a Boxster muffler, there's just barely enough room but it does fit with a little cutting

I'm finally installing the factory swaybars I bought over a year ago using CFR Tangerine Racing mounts.

I'm also adding CFR's SS tunnel and engine compartment fuel lines.

I've driven this car 14000 miles with a front mounted fuel pump pressurizing the factory lines to 30 psi because that is how it was when I got it - never felt good about so it was time to do something about it.

I'm adding the SS underhood lines too (I have already replaced all of the underhood hose and clamps).

New bosch 2 port fuel pump too....

Used Koni's on the way too!

Of course everything received for Racer Chris has fit perfectly!

Just put this one in another thread but why not here too :-)

My first project in the re-assembly of what is so far a three year resto. Now its my turn. Put the decklid together just to get started somewhere and until I get my suspension parts and can get the chassis off the rotisserie.

Just my observation ... have you thought about painting the area under the grille black?

Let's see the rest of the car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif)

Still trying to get the Speedster off the lift. Every time I fix one thing, something else comes up. Plus I'm waiting for my suspension parts to arrive so I can get the 14 off the rotisserie. Pics in time i promise. Good things come to those who wait ;D

Mark, as much as I paid for the paint job.............its staying yellow!! I have more $$ in just the body than most finished cars in nice shape are worth (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I built some storage shelves for bins of parts I had leftover. Stacked and built right next to the SIX. Slick design stolen off the internet and relatively cheap build with storage totes, 2x3's, 1" strips. Safely stores all the misc. items leftover.

Only 914 drive was rolling it in and out of the garage.

Drove it to church then to the grocery store. I parked it in the bank parking lot so I will get any runaway shopping carts dents! Then filled it up 100% gas at $3.71 a gallon which is not what the poor souls in California are paying. Had the top on because we are getting our first cool spell of fall!

One of those refineries (Exxon/Mobil) is right down the street - the one that claims they had a power outage (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

I paid $3.95 for gas at a '76' station last week. When I went to fill up on Friday, it was $4.65 at the same station (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sheeplove.gif)

I moseyed on over to a Shell station on the way home that was 'only' $4.57, and used our Ralph's grocery store card (bonus points) to get down to $4.47. Costco was selling for $4.39, but the waiting lines were reminiscent of the days of the oil embargo back in the early '70's - didn't want to wait an hour or more.

The Tundra will sit here with a half tank until the prices come back down (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

Time to break out the little Yamaha XT (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biker.gif)

Drove it to the local VW show this weekend where I sell the event t-shirts. My 914 is a l-o-n-g way from being a show car but I parked next to where I was set up and got a LOT of people looking and asking about it.
One guy told me he has a '72 he got from auction that has quite a bit of work done to it including a Raby engine. He bought a '75 that he plans on swapping all the goodies into (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
A couple of young guys were looking at it and, though they knew what it was, had no idea the details such as mid-engine, roof coming off, four wheel disc brakes, etc.
I even got the name and number of a teener in the area whom I had not yet heard about.
And can't forget about the young guy who currently owns a bus and plans on buying a 914 as soon as he finds the right deal. He is in the NC area and is looking for a project. I invited him to the Smoky Mountain Day Drive... hope he shows up.
