Went to N. Seattle yesterday to look at a roller for a potential replacement for my '73 tub...

Uh-oh. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Got to shoot a little Canary Yellow L11E on the bottom of my 71 project.

Looks awesome! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)

One question; Why did you leave the torsion bar covers in place? The bolts I can understand, so that you don't gum up the threads, but the covers?

Thanks for your support, I can use it! Guess I should have removed the covers but doesn't appear to be a real issue either way.

Game of inches, eh Joe? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Drove the 'BB' back to the shop early this evening (took it on the Halloween Run on Saturday, Oct. 41st.)

Put the Vanagon up on the lift to do some more work on it.

Parked the 'BB' under the Vanagon and left the shop at 2 am.

Thats a beauty. Everything on the bottom of my car is covered with the crap undercoating. Which, apparently, did nothing to stop the progress of rust (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif)

Drove the car with my cousin (visitor from Pittsburg, CA) who has 1973 914 (unfinised inside garage for the last 9 years). Went to several stores around Orange County.

Naw, the only person the lift impacts is me. Reid has the whole other half of the shop with his own roll up door (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif)

I do need to condense a little more, I'd like to squeeze three more cars in there for the winter (on my side) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Maybe I should get another lift (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) ... and have a good excuse for another party (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

I drove it for the last time before it goes on the jack stands. I then parked it, and proceded to remove the fiberglass that the previous owner slapped over all the rust. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif)

I have a long road ahead (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon8.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif)

I laid a piece of 6061 over the cowling and started shaping it to the car. I don't have any idea how to finish yet so I will see how it comes out. My computer stopped reading my camera so you my not see it.

Only got to drive the 'BB' out to the parking lot where it sat in the rain for a few hours (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Kapt Kaos stopped by the shop and we replaced his leaking passenger-side output shaft seal.

Attached Image

Joe did the brunt of the work.

Attached Image

New seal installed. You can see the grease was flung all over the place.

Attached Image

I basically supplied some tools and encouragement, and cleaned up the old parts before putting it all back together.

Attached Image

Happy to report that the job went well (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) ... and yes, new schnorr washers were installed and everything torqued to spec.
