Decided to sell mine today (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hissyfit.gif) Took it for a ride to drop toys for the Tijuana Toy run with the top off. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) Got rained on on the way home, it was nice and sunny when I left so left the top in the garage. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Put in new turn signal and washer stalks. Pressured up the washer, no leaks.

I drove the LE to pick up lunch at my favorite Mexican place and am about to drive it to the gym for my workout. Will probably start Christine up and drive her around the neighborhood.

I moved mine into a storage unit along with all her parts in preperation for a trip to Colorado to her new home. I'm sorry to see her go, but I'm excited to see her going to a great home and put back together. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Bled my front brakes after tightening up the gland nut on the driver side shock.

Both sides have loosened in just over a year to the point they were clunking over bumps. Used a little loctite this time and a big pipe wrench to tighten it.

QUOTE(mrbubblehead @ Dec 17 2011, 08:07 PM) *

i just wanted to start a thread to see what you guys do day to day on your cars.

i'll start,

about a month ago, i pulled my engine and trans to put in a new clutch. had the flywheel lightened and resurfaced. but what i didnt know is that i had to shim the little ball that the clutch arm rides on, after a resurfacing. so guess what i did today?

yup, pulled the trans and put an extra washer under the ball. you have to goop up both washers to get it to seal because the threaded hole goes all the way thru to the inside of the trans. i also replaced the plastic cup that the ball rides in. the throwout bearing and its little plastic blocks were fine so i buttoned every thing back up. 5 hours total. i think this has been the cheapest repair yet on my car. $2.75 for the little plastic cup.

what did you do to your 914 today?

I sat at the kitchen table and measured and cut my push-rods.....then installed the tips, while watching football and drinking beer. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif) I wish I could move the engine into the kitchen and finish it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chowtime.gif) Much nicer place to work. Believe it or not, that took about 1-1/2 football games. I measured 3 or 4 times then started cutting with my tube cutter which is a very slow process....ROUND AND ROUND AND ROUND. Then file and measure some more.

mrbubblehead,

"what type of ultra sonic parts washer do you have? where did you get it?"

http://www.harborfreight.com/25-liter-ultr...aner-95563.html

I have used water, HFE-7100 (dont ask), and denatured alcohol all in it with great results.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) ... the regular price has shot up to $90.?

I bought the same U/S cleaner from HF a couple of years ago for only $60.

All the Chinese shit is starting to increase in price and timed to coincide with the fact that we no longer manufacture anything here.

Did anybody else see this coming?

Mines in bits. Blew the head at #1 cylinder-found it was 103mm bore so going back to 96mm. So new cylinders/pistons and heads.
Found a CB 1.7 case so took it down today to be crack tested dipped and cleaned ready for a rebuild. Now hoping to be going next summer-maybe!
Never give up!

Measured up another Porsche for a possible suspension transplant! Looks like it will work from the measurements, and soon a new build thread should start. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Been going on for several years. But you can still catch the deals. What cracks me up is they will list the same tool several times in their flyer for different prices??? So you can easily pay 10% more or less. Also, the stores don't know what the other foot is doing- the internet will list a sale price and the store won't list it reduced until you call them on it.

yesterday-

I replaced my center console panals with burled wood finish and a cup holder for my "coffee" ! - tired of it spilling- to match my doors. - I have to drill the holes for the Gauges , and will be installing a A/F ratio meter in Slot #3,

next up- going to do the dash as well, and hoping to get my fresh air blower going next- it no work- (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) -
