Installed a flux capacitor into my 914 so I can go back to the future.

Ok, that is cool. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) Where do I buy one?

Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown built it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif)
Must (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) 88 mph to reach 1.21 gigawatts to ignite this bad boy! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif)

Actually my buddy John bought it for me for Christmas. He thought it would be funny for me to use as a prop for when I DJ in clubs (my DJ name is FLuX, though it has nothing to do with Back to The Future). I was like, what the hell am I going to do with this? But then I thought it would be a novelty to get a second back pad and cut out the same dimensions out of foam in the middle and house this in between the seats just for a laugh. Unfortunately, it's too wide and overlaps the seats a bit. Pretty funny. I just looked it up on Amazon. Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/Back-Future-Capacito...=flux+capacitor

I found a place in the Columbus OH area that I think can help me. The fiberglass front air damn is too low on my flared car. I want to take it off. I still have the original metal spoiler. I am hoping they can flare it out a little on the ends to make it match the fender flairs. Perhaps a rubber strip along the bottom would provide some of the aerodynamics but not be so susceptible to hitting things. Anyone done this?

I'm almost certain that if I bought one, my buyer's remorse would compel me to go back in time to stop me from buying it... and in the process, I might run into myself and rip a hole in the space time continuum.

Got my 40 year old windshield replace today. Oh my God! Driving home I thought I was driving without a windshield! So Clear! Also replaced the windshield to dash rubber seal with rubber from 914Rubber!

Total cost was less than $300 which I thought was great considering how hard to find 914 windshields.

Drove the car hard....well at least until the drive belt on the MFI broke and I became stranded on the side of the road. It made my heart skip a beat when I heard a pop then the engine died. I thought oh crap what did I do. Much better when I discovered the broken belt. Glad to have AAA.

Just carry a belt with you and put it back on. I marked my flywheel with the proper marks, including the FE mark, so it is all at the back end.

Even if the MFI timing is off 180 degrees, the car will still run and drive. It will not run well, but it will run.

Never had to deal with the belt yet. How frequent do they need to be changed? Is it that common for them to break?

You can always go back in time to get an original windshield, then readily in stock for a lot cheaper with a flux capacitor. or even go back to avoid driving behind that truck that sent that piece of gravel flying toward it. flux capacitor saves money. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

Oh yeah - you can also go back to 1973 and load up on 914s for about $5K a pop, store them and drive-release them over time! You'll always have a brand new one! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif)

I see you painted your top white. I want to get a second top and do the same. And advice? Prep? Grade of sandpaper you used? Application? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Like any timing belt, about every 60K miles. They don't have that much of a load on them, so they don't break often. But they do dry rot when not used. I always carry a spare on trips so it doesn't happen.

Do you have a cover over the belt? If not, you need to fabricate one. The crap thrown up by the right rear wheel will make the belt deteriorate faster.

60K miles will be a life time for me in that car. The belt does have a cover on it. Because I am a retail manager and it is the holiday season, I took it to a shop for repairs. It was 250 for the new belt and install and a quick fix on my oil gauge. I guess it is better than having a car broken in my garage for weeks. Drove it home tonight running good. I hate paying for repairs I could figure out with enough time, but there needs to be a balance of work and time with the kids.

This top had to be one of the first sanded tops done. Ex racer Ted Tidwell had it sanded and painted white as the original owner in 70-72. He did it so the Georgia heat wasn't as bad in the summer on a car without A/C. On my wife's bumblebee the body shop sanded it then filled and imperfections before finishing then painting. She also has the original one. I perfer the smooth tops on cars without sails and textured on cars with sails.

Let's see...

Got up. Had some coffee and breakfast. Watched a bit of the Today show.
Had some wine, did a little (IMG:style_emoticons/default/type.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/santa_smiley.gif) shopping for my nieces.
Thought about how I wanted to re-arrange my office which is a total mess right now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
Thought about all the yard work (LOTS of it) I have to do (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) , which depressed me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) , so I had another glass of wine. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) (<-- beer substitute)
Bought a very nice LE Creamsicle. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)
Went to my friend's Lebanese grocery to buy some khubz, zaitoon, zatar, tahini, batlewah, fool, some shisha for my argileh and other items that most on here won't be able to pronounce, so I won't bother. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) But yeah, yum. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif)
Now planning on having (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chowtime.gif) with a girl who's in town for the evening, hoping it will turn into (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) ...unless I end up getting called into work right before dinner. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) Which is likely. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif)
