I received some more parts deliveries today (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Stopped into the shop for a few hours last night. I traded KaptKaos an old crusty set of really cool Dan Gurney wheels for a nice refurb'd IBM ThinkPad laptop running Linux - tried it out and it works great over there. Now I don't have to keep hauling my home laptop back and forth (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ... thanks, Joe (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumb3d.gif)

Installed some Christmas lights on the lift (IMG:style_emoticons/default/santa_smiley.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Did a little work on the '66 too. Unjammed the driver side door, and found out WHY it jammed shut (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Tucked my teener under a cover for the winter, it's been down in the 50s around here! Just kidding, I did put the car away until Jan '13 (next month).

Got a Srinker and Strecher from Eastwood to help with my dash paneles and they worked really well. Now they need no clamps to hold them in place, at one point it took 10.

Took it for a quick drive.

It still has the DOT-R track tires. It was scary on the damp 40 degree F. roads. With 1/4 throttle in 2nd gear the wheelspin was nasty! Just the thing to get the heart racing. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I gutted the inside only to find more rust than I thought I had and put together one center console that I had to put together from multiple consoles. The vinyle is missing, but will get her refurbished soon.

The wife and I drove the white car to Capitola today to pick up a DD for the wife.
The new 2056 ran awesome there and back, now I'm wondering why it took me so long to get it in and going, this motor is awesome. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (if you want one...call McMark)

Scared the bejesus out of a friend with a couple of 2nd-3rd gear pulls in the 914 LS1. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/evilgrin.gif) He was screaming like a little girl for me to slow down! My poor man's Venom GT is fun beyond words.

Looked at them. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Weekend was spent working on the truck, swapping tires on the Mustang and getting some stuff done around the house.

I got to work on someone else's 914 today, meet JP (jonpierre), nice '73

Attached Image

I got to drive my 75 out of the shop and into a parking stall ... and back in, later in the day (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Good thing too, the battery was getting low.

Joe (Sharp): I was also thinking that Joe (Kaos) might be able to help you with the camera/PC issue. He's an absolute wiz with that stuff, ya know.

QUOTE(mrbubblehead @ Dec 17 2011, 06:07 PM) *

i just wanted to start a thread to see what you guys do day to day on your cars.

i'll start,

about a month ago, i pulled my engine and trans to put in a new clutch. had the flywheel lightened and resurfaced. but what i didnt know is that i had to shim the little ball that the clutch arm rides on, after a resurfacing. so guess what i did today?

yup, pulled the trans and put an extra washer under the ball. you have to goop up both washers to get it to seal because the threaded hole goes all the way thru to the inside of the trans. i also replaced the plastic cup that the ball rides in. the throwout bearing and its little plastic blocks were fine so i buttoned every thing back up. 5 hours total. i think this has been the cheapest repair yet on my car. $2.75 for the little plastic cup.

what did you do to your 914 today?

Hello......in1976 I lighten my fly wheel.....I regrete since,,,,,still have car,,,,,low idle a plain to keep in traffic...... gary
