Drove mine for the first time, albeit only on my cul-de-sac. But it feels good to move it under its own power after 4.5 years! I'll spend most of tomorrow finalizing other things on the checklist as I move toward licensing it and really shaking it down...

Finally installed a fine mesh wire screen in front of my oil cooler. Took me 6 months until the mental (not oil) light when on.

Installed four new CV joints. One was so loose I could rotate the axle back and forth a few degrees in each direction!

This is the 2nd time I have done the CV's on my car. What a greasy PITA!

My daughter gave me a Ebay gift card for Christmas. I used it to purchase new front turn lenses and a new stock shifter knob. My old knob's face was cracked because I used to wear a ring on my right hand and I guess that is what caused the cracking? Free shipping! I like Free! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Well I didn't do much, but I thought about my 914 today. Made a list of goals for 2013 including waking it from its very cozy year long slumber, installing SS fuel lines and finally putting those damn sway bars in.

Took my nephew, Jeremy, on the New Year's Day run this AM. It was a little chilly, but he said he it was fun. He's ridden in the car before, but not a fast canyon run (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Picked up a new HF 20 gal. parts washer this evening. Great sale price - $80. AND with a 25% New Year's Day discount coupon brought it down to only $60. Thanks to Joe (KaptKaos) for the heads up! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

We did some more rust removal on the '72 yesterday. Almost done with the driver side (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

... and tackling some rust in the rear trunk. Should have this area all taken care of by week's end.

Dang, that car is looking good. If the body is that nice, just clear coat it and be done with it. Would look awesome!

I pulled the gear stack out of the car today. Pretty painless altogether; I was sure I was going to encounter more problems. It's going off to Dr. Evil for a set of freeway cruising gears. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

i cant believe what it costs to overhaul these boxes. so a word of caution my brothers, when it starts grinding or making noise fix it ASAP! tranny parts are freaking expensive....

Here's a couple more pictures of hershils gearbox. I epoxied a huge neodymium magnet under the gear stack. This magnet will pick up particles down to one angstrom.

I am also converting his tail shifter into a side shifter. And being the CSOB that he is, i had to reuse the old nose cone. So it got chopped and plugged.

Recieved my Urban Outlaw merchandise from Magnus Walker in the post. So washed my new T-shirts, and stuck a sticker on Violet. A hard day in the garage (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I guest I was bored. It shows that it is not centered because of the angle of my camera , but it is perfectly centered.

i cut windows in an old jacked up trans case so now i have a nice jig to adjust the shifter forks for smooth operation. since i havent got my pinion depth tool back from the machinist i will adjust the differential bearing preload.
