What cover gas cap is that? Looks like you have no hood gap.

Today i checked checked the differential bearing preload. I had to make two tools to do this step. It was below the allowable spec. I am assuming the reason is because the bearings are used. I wish I had a set of new bearings to install and use the original spacers. I would like to see if the new bearings would bring the preload back into spec. Otherwise I will have to re-shim the diff to bring it to spec....

The gas cover is from an Audi TT, I got it from a member here. I don't thin I need a hood cap.

I started both cars today , the 2.0 djet started with no issues, but the green one with the dual webbers was having issues starting. I think somehow water got into the webbers. I got it to start but popping like hell and wouldn't stay running.

How much water do you think may have gotten ingested? One of the cylinders may have filled up through an open intake valve.

Disable your fuel pump, pull the spark plugs and crank the engine over to get any water out of the cylinders (it could get a little messy, so place some shop rags over the open holes), and check for water in your oil.

One of the locals out here just went through this same exact scenario (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Deeper and deeper in the rabbit hole I go! Deceided this week might as well pull everything out to get her sandblasted just finding the hand sanding, wire wheeling, scrapers to much of a pain in the ass. to do in all the knooks and crannies.

Been stuck at home with a bad cold - haven't been to the shop for a couple of days (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

The highlight of the day ... a friend stopped by and gave me this nifty clock! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

One day....

Cheers

My daughter gave me a Ebay gift card for Christmas. I used it to purchase new front turn lenses and a new stock shifter knob. My old knob's face was cracked because I used to wear a ring on my right hand and I guess that is what caused the cracking? Free shipping! I like Free! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Hey! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif)

I resemble that remark!

Also, be sure to disconnect your coil. If you're running a pertronix, make sure you disconnect your dizzy too, or you may burn it up.

Get some dry gas and throw it in the tank.

Change your oil.

Starting fluid spray will help to get rid of some of the water too.

If you're having your daughter help you get it started, make sure she know to let go of the key when it catches, and not switch it back off in a panic. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

Drove Betsy down to the airport to meet a plane to drop off a rear valance for Mary Shortridge and to get some ginger snaps and other goodies being delivered to me.

Dropped the engine to fix the front main seal leak.
Put in a new front seal.
Put in new oil cooler seals.
Replaced the fan hub and woodruff key.
Re-routed fuel lines to carbs.
Changed the carbs to receive fuel from back instead of front.
Cleaned up and painted engine bay.
Put in a new speedo cable
Tried to fix the engine deck lid hinge bolts. More to follow on that.
Got it all put back together and running. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)

I removed the pedal unit from the green car and noticed that I have some rust in there . My welder came in handy, started to grind and patch the holes with fabricated metal.
