Tried to get an electrical fire going in the tunnel wiring harness. Added a self-powered amp behind the passenger seat and wired it into an existing fused line from the battery which runs to an old amp which drove the old sub-woofer which was taken out. Turned on the radio and the new self-powered (Kenwood) sub sounded great. But didn't figure the old amp was drawing that much power since it wasn't driving anything, but was wrong. Enjoying the tunes for 5 mins when I smelled burning wires. Shut off radio, disconnected battery and had extinguisher ready. The main power was replaced with a lesser fuse. Fortunately no trace that any other wires were affected and all electricals work fine. In other words, dodged a major bullet.

I felt pretty good today (Friday). Four shots in the upper back and neck appeared to do the trick (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Jeremy and I went to the shop late this afternoon and pretty much finished up on the driver side of the '72 roller. Then we had to move 4 cars around so we could put the '72 on the lift for some undercarriage cleanup.

Just noticed it has KONIs on all four corners, aluminum cross bar and a bump-steer kit (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif)

Steve (pneuhyde) happened to be in So Cal this weekend ... he stopped by the shop this morning to look at the '72.

Adjusted the front end ride height ... it was a little low on the driver side.

Later, did a little shop maintenance and stuck some wheels under the new HF parts washer.

Now I need to get crackin' on some of those greasy parts (IMG:style_emoticons/default/FERG.gif)

Replaced my 40 year old emergency brake boots which had perished. Used a little silicone spray to get the boots over the cable linkage. Got boots from Auto Atlanta.

Day Two: With three days of rain projected, what a better time to tackle some projects I have been putting off. Replaced my drain plug in front trunk which was gone. I also replaced my 40-year old heater hoses. The old heater hose literally fell apart when taking them out. Got new heater hose from Auto Atlanta.

Took the white car to McMark to swap trannies and some new 160lb springs, the 200lb springs were beating me up. Picked up a "running" motor for the yellow car.
And......brought home another 914, and then there was 4 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif)

Then the 49rs won.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif)

Added at least 20hp in 5 mins by adding two front trunk drain tubes, or as I like to call them inboard curb feelers.

Wonder how much HP increase you'd get if you installed 6 of them (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

haha, I actually had that thought. although there are other slight modifications. I'm saving the original and will surely mention that it is included if I ever sell the car. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif)

New sills and window rubber from Mikey914! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) Old sills had nasty scuffs, overspray from PO's paint job, so these are a big improvement.

After much debate and a few close calls on the freeway I did It.... I installed the third brake light. As ugly as I think they are I did it. Being a daily driver i figured it was best. Plus it only added about 2 oz. to my car.LOL

Now if it was a 1950 barn door bus, not a chance.

It turned out pretty good to. Since all of my chrome is blacked out the black led strip dosnt look so bad. And I only had to drill one tiny hole.
