QUOTE(euro911 @ Apr 23 2013, 02:12 AM) *

Had a weird experience today.

I went to the shop to unload all the stuff I didn't sell at the G&R (plus the stuff I bought) and a 911 long nose hood, then rummaged around and packed up some other parts to ship out.

I was finalizing the day's activities and walked to the front of the shop where the break room is, to close the front door that I had opened for ventilation (it's been hot down here lately). The door has a scissor gate across the opening and nobody can enter the shop from the front, but I find a guy who looked like Trevon Martin with a hoodie and a back pack sitting in there with his feet up on the table fiddling with a cell phone (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

I asked him WTF he was doing in my shop and he stumbled for words, but said something about wanting to know something about a battery. I didn't buy his story.

In any event I told him that he was trespassing and needed to get his ass out of my shop ... NOW. This guy snuck in through the back door of the shop unannounced when my back was turned and just decided to make himself at home (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Come to find out, he matches the description of a suspect who stole $1200. cash a couple of months ago from a friend's Harley repair shop in the next block over.

I alerted the other shop keepers in our facility about the incident and we'll be keeping the sliding gate to the parking lot closed, at least for the time being (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Luckily, this guy's image was recorded on my video surveillance system and I'll be providing the LAPD with a copy.

I'm not paranoid, but it brings back memories of an awful incident that occurred on Christmas Eve morning in 2010 just a few blocks from where I live. Joseph Gosinski, owner of Chicane Sport Tuning was shot to death while working in his shop. Story link

Looks like one just can't be too careful these days ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

On a lighter note, I did touch a lot of Porsche parts today (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Be careful man., lots of whacko's out there.

Yep, getting together with a few of the local shop owners next week, and set up some additional electronic security measures ... daytime photo beam systems to detect unannounced intruders is first on the list ...

... and just because it isn't the greatest neighborhood anyway, I pack (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Now that is truly something some of us can't do (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

I replaced my dented bottom sail trim and removed the POS rear valance from Automotion and put back my original.

Drove my 914 twice this weekend! I've discovered that bringing along one of my kids makes it a "bonding experience" -- e.g. less flack for going out for a drive.

Saturday, I took my 4 y.o. daughter for her first substantial ride in the 914. About 15 miles with a stop at a local playground. And a stop for gas on the way home... more to come on that...

Sunday, I took my 6 y.o. son out for a drive and we stopped for a game of mini-golf.

The car's driving great, although I'm worried that it seems to be losing more oil than usual... might need another valve cover gasket.

So, about that stop for gas on Saturday... I'm rolling into the usual Sunoco near my neighborhood, and something there catches my attention. So I pulled up to the other side of the same island.

Had a great chat with the driver. His is a '74, like my 914, but that's where the similarities end. It's a rare Euro Carrera 2.7 MFI. It was pristine. Owner (very nice guy) said his DD is a 944 Cab and he's had a couple 914s in the past.

I finally got around to making a new intake snorkel. For the longest time I was using a PVC elbow and it was time to get rid of it.

Been a while since my last post...a few years. I moved to Boston in 2008 and shipped my 914 to Florida for an extended vacation at my folks house. I finally moved back to California this year, and had the car shipped out to California to get her up and running.

But since the move back to Cali, it never ran quite right (but I did drive it from Oakland to Redlands), and over the last month or so it's been running like crap. Symptoms indicated clogged injectors, and finally today I put in a freshly cleaned set. Car runs great now, and I'm no longer contemplating buying a Miata! Actually, your set will end up on the Raspberry car. I have a set on Sandy's car. You'll see them soon... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Transferred stuff from the 73 rust bucket over to the 70 tub. Lights, some rubber seals, targa trim, then logged onto 914world and pretended to be an expert at everything (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif)
