I have been driving her every day. Only about 2 to 4 blocks though. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) She is working rather well, thank you.

I removed the gas tank to install SS fuel lines and repair the fresh air blower. I also cleaned out the area under the tank, origional paint still looks good.

Oil leak from the rear of my recent engine rebuild may be from the flywheel O ring. Main seal and flywheel contact area seem fine but I replaced the seal anyway. The new one - National - did seem to fit a little tighter than the new brown one that I had installed last month.

But the flywheel O ring from the gasket set sat in the O ring groove completely, so I have replaced it with a fatter one. That's the only problem I can see and I sure did have an oil leak (engine oil) from back there somewhere. I hope to put the engine back in this weekend.

I went to bolt the flywheel back on last night but don't have a roll pin so I stood down. Today's chore was to stop by the hardware store to get one but they didn't know what I was talking about. I found out they are called tension pins. I'm sure they could be called alignment pins too and I have seen them used like cotter pins....but anyway I was finally able to find one.

Other than making sure the flywheel is oriented on the crank for balance, is this pin necessary? I first assembled this engine last month with the flywheel lined up properly but without without the pin and it ran fine for 600 miles of breakin.

So today's chore is to finish yesterday's chore.

After getting the drive shafts in and everything else buttoned-up, drove it around the block a couple time for the first time in a year and a half (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Wow I'm also be doing the same thing anytime with my 75 1.8L, I got the SS fuel lines already since last month and also got a fresh air motor early this year but never installed them yet. And also going to bring down my engine and do some cleaning inside the tin. But currently the car is running well except I have no 1st gear.

God Bless!

I'm planning on a motor cleaning as my next major project but it is running very good right now and don't have a good excuse to remove it just to clean and redo the tins.

Leo, power-washing the acid wash off this am. The acid etches off a thin top coat, leaving an old style pebbly finish (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Later that day:
Dry now. They'll be back to power-wash again and apply a sealer coat next week (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif)

City contractors were here on Tuesday surveying for new concrete curbs, gutters driveway approaches and asphalt resurfacing of the streets in our neighborhood. (it's about time ... it's been 50 years since it was last done). I'll be going a little wider with the approach to match the width of the new driveway (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Hope to have some P-cars parked here soon (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif)

Been battling a high idle problem for a while, checked the timing, good, checked all the hoses, good, finally found the problem. Sprayed some brake cleaner around the throttle body, boom air leak city. The gasket was new an just fine, took the throttle body over to the belt sander leveled the base out and all is well now, no more high idle problems, car runs like a raped ape.....

bought some paint remover and am going to try and strip my old fuch wheels clean than polish them up and give them a new spray in matt black...hope to be able to complete one wheel a weekend.

My car has been running pretty good lately and the weather is really nice now, perfect for driving with the top off.

Got around and installed the new machined taco plate and sensor. Also added some much needed light to my gauges, RIP Al.
