In preparation for a transmission rebuild, cleaned the baked on oil and dirt from the transmission (top 2 rows, before on LEFT, after on RIGHT, rows 3 and 4 after)
Thanks
Shawn

Nice, what did you use to get all of that off?

Thanks - I have to admit I did used a power washer for a bit of it (maybe 5 min) but it was the heavy duty gel Gunk Engine Degreaser product that took the oil off. I soaked it overnight twice. Using power washer was NOT a good idea (see my other transmission post for comments and a great thread link).

Got half of my 5 lug conversion done. Eric Shea's"kit" from the group buy has gone well so far. These later-style Boxster/Cayman wheels look like they were designed for the 914. 17x7, fit perfectly with a 15mm spacer. Thanks Rich Johnson for selling these to me!

Couple of terrible pictures:

I have the 8.5" on my car. Retro torque thrust look!

Sealed and primered some floor pans today. Those Isocyanates are nasty, hours after using! Wonder how many bodyshop guys are walking around high???

Put some larger casters on the red car dolly. Put the red car on the lift and dropped the rust bucket down on the ground. Made an extension cord for the welder.
Found some rust hiding under the gas tank. Need to get this replaced so I can put the rack and suspension on. Sweated my f^%^)* ass off- 100% humidity.

it only took 2 months, but the transmission swap that grew to include a new clutch, new shift bushings and new muffler is finally complete. It actually all works !! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Finally i was able to start the process of installing my SS fuel lines which I got from Robert since April 2013. Well unlike others I saw from this site that after removing their original tunnel fuel lines that are brittle, this one I removed still looks very nice and hard. But at least it will not make me paranoid driving it now. I'm always hesitant driving it since last year when i was reminded that old tunnel fuel lines can cause fire.
And I was able to drain again my fuel tank for the second time. The first one was last 2011 when i replaced old fuel lines inside fuel tank bay and engine bay.

Thanks again Robert for this beautiful product of yours!

I drove her hard, then added oil. Washed her up by hand, gassed her up and drove the crap out of her again.

Finally finished scraping tar from the floors today.... nothing like bending over a heat gun in 90 deg heat w/ 80% humidity. I was worried I would start more rust just from the puddles of sweat.

Picked up my cases, flywheel and crank from the machine shop yesterday.
had the cases tanked, the flywheel resurfaced and had the 2.0 crank I got on fleabay check for true.. it is...

waiting on my P&C to come in the mail from euro.

Had a new helper (Fred) spend his first day at the shop today. He has an extensive background with VW motors, but I'm tasking him with sorting through and cataloging all the Honda Mini-Trail parts first (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

johnpierre is supposed to stop by tomorrow and i'll change out the vacuum lines on his 1.7.

I registered the little tramp.

She needs a facelift. Too many miles rode hard and put away wet.

Daphne Monet does have new plates - 914BLUE

Ah, now I can see her all painted new blue like the Anglo's in 3rd Century England.
