Pulled it out of the 914 barn, and going to post it. Owned since the 80's parked it when the ear failed about 1983 Always inside. All the interior will go to the project car, being in humid Michigan and stored inside the interior is in great shape. No cracks or splits in the interior trim, and yes a perfect dash cap. All just as I left it some 30 years ago. Anyone need a some what rusted shell? Amazing how easly it was to pull across the lawn, on its belly.
It's an early 1970 4

Seem to only see these when I have a 914 out.

Sent my gauges off to Tim to have the custom guage lights done. http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=213685.

Chatted with Tim and had finished my gauges fixed some other things and was wrapping things up! Truly a super quick turn. Should have them back and installed in less than a week. Can't wait to see how they look.

Swapped out my Kevlar clutch disc for a more conventional one for a smoother engagement. If anyone's interested in a 228-mm disc (V-8 conversion) that fits the 901 input shaft splines, check out the classifieds.

Today I installed the 911 clock that I converted to an AFR gauge. I still have to weld on a bung but it's all wired and ready to go.

Today was some fuel pump work, cleaned the carpets (not too many card that I know where you can yank the carpets and throw them in the laundry (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ), did an oil change and sorted a couple odds and ends out. I think she is pretty much ready for RRC!

I gutted her... removed/reinstalled the rear window, will be doing some sound deadening, and new carpet...and oh, the clutch cable, which started the whole "while I'm in there.." mess:

finally got the shear pin out of the pedals, and had to pretty much press the rest of the components apart. I have a lot of sanding to do.....

Debounced the tach by adding a 2200uF capacitor across the winding.

Here's a quick video of the tach without damping.

Standard Tach Performance

Here's a video of the tach with the 2200uF cap installed. The tach is much more damped and doesn't wildly overshoot like before.

Thanks for the tip, Jerry. I'll be digging into the dash gauges on the 'BB' soon ... I should do this mod while the 'new' tach in still sitting on the work bench (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

Nice paint job, TC.

You're welcome. The tach needs to be a newer 914 tach. The one from my 71 has a different circuit and adding the cap also disturbs the RPM value by about 1.3x to 1.5x. I bought a later model tach and put the guts in the case from the 71.

Rebuilt my shift linkage. Version 1 was kinda thrown together in a hurry...I was kinda eager to drive my car! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) What? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Its now a zillion times smoother, and shifts like when it was a 2.0
I forgot how well they can shift!
Stoked! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

My 1st a 73' I bought in 77' was Signal Orange

My final #7 914, a 75' some what rare black is now SO...I always wanted a yellow 914, but my Z06 and 69' Camaro are yellow so SO is perfect for the new 914.

I love the track events I do with my Z06...driving 165 mph @ Road America; but I'm looking to the same level of fun driving the 914 when it's finished...does that make sense?

getting the same rush from driving the 914 on a twisty road versus blasting down the 4500' straights @ RA doing 165 mph, then braking to 45 mph to make the left hander?

To me...yes

I got my German electrical pin removal kit and pins and connectors. I need to replace some of the factory connectors due to loose and broken wires.

This is causing a random limp mode problem. VW sent out a tech report about this some time ago. Now I'm feeling the pain.

Should all be fixed and ready to drive before 9-14... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)
