Today...I drove the crap out of it. 11,000 + feet and 160 miles. I drove it like I stole it. My 70 hp was used in full!

Timed it. Then adjusted the AFM. Loosened the spring on the dynamic wheel to allow the flapper to tell the ECU to tell the injectors to shoot some more fuel under load. Pinging is about gone. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif)

So much fun figgerin' out this stuff, especially when it makes her run better.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Then took her for an 80 mile run out on LI's north fork. Great day.

I fixed the radiator hose... Again! This time for good. Re filled the system and bled.

I pulled apart all the factory electrical connectors and soldered new pins.

I turned to boost down to 12psi. Seems like the sweet spot until I can get it tuned on the dyno.

I drove it for 30+ miles in 98° weather without any issues... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) Engine temps stayed around 180° all day.

Went to VW to get a boost/thrust sensor (MAP). they wanted $200 so I bought one online for less than half. I often get an "implausible signal" and go into limp mode. This is partially why the boost is turned down. My tuner needs to re-scale the sensor.

Limp mode sucks! The car go to idle, no throttle at all until I cycle the ignition.

Rebuilt my shift linkage. Version 1 was kinda thrown together in a hurry...I was kinda eager to drive my car! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) What? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Its now a zillion times smoother, and shifts like when it was a 2.0
I forgot how well they can shift!
Stoked! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

I still have to go for a ride in a running 914 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Mind you I not sure I want to ride in that fast of a teener as then I'll never get it done..

Did you manage to cut up that parts car? I still need to grab some more stuff off you and I'll bring (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) this time (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

Got a lot accomplished today, but the best part was my drive at the end of the day!!

Made my first trip to "somewhere", so a drive that wasnt going in circles just to test things out. Went on a good drive and made multiple stops, all in my teener!

Replaced Accelerator and clutch cable that I bought from GPR parts and just to mention, Brian is an amazing guy who really have an excellent customer service doing business with (Thank you so much Brian!).

I thought my clutch pedal is already smooth for this 38 yr old car but after replacing the clutch cable, wow i feel that I'm driving a newer car. It is really that smooth and it is even smoother than my accelerator pedal. Maybe I need to check on something with my gas pedal now.

Put her on jackstands for some cleaning underneath and stared at some of the projects I still haven't had time to get to yet... Still need to get the rears re-drilled for 4x130 to keep it 4 lug. Ah big brakes, someday you'll be 'on'...

Finally got around to installing the aluminum Brembo calipers on my car. I have had these on the shelf for six months now. My wife has them on her bumblebee and they really improve the braking. I am happy to now have them on the /6. The ones I installed were powder coated black but next time I will have PMB do them and finish them silver. Please forgive me Eric for I have sinned. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif) I also tossed in a new set of Porterfields which also helped with the stopping.

Old and new...

Must be brake season...broke by rear hard brake line.

Anyone know the replacement size using a precut tube? I can bend it myself. The tube in the picture...
