Nothing really ... but Robert (Rotary'14) and Ted (porsche913b_sp) came by the shop to BS for a while on Saturday afternoon. This was the first time I've seen Ted's '71. It's pretty nice (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Located some H/E parts that Noel (ndfrigi) is in need of.

Also, snapped some pix of the 'new' little lift in operation - with a predecessor to the 914 on it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Attached Image

With the way the old 'Tomater' has been modified in the rear, I don't think a lift is needed to yank the motor out (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Attached Image

I'm still looking for a rear clip for a '67 if anybody knows were I can get one (cheeeep (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) ... and local to the South Bay/LAX area) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

I worked on my car after a week of hiding my head in the sand. I had "hit a brick wall" last week and stopped. In retrospect I think it was a case of "burn-out" compounded by my own ignorance. Sometimes it helps to clear the mind. I sat down with the electrical schematics Sat AM and bingo; there it was. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif). I won't bother with the details but I'm glad I'm thru that part of the electrical. To quote Oat Willie, "Onward through the Fog."

Yes. ORV with all QRS panels. Entire car will be glass but, sadly the project has come to a screeching halt. We ran out of pictures and don't quite know what to do. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

What did I do with my 914 today? With apologies to Fats Domino (and look it up if you are too young to know);

I spent all day trying to figure out why it was running rough and hunting at idle. Triple checked valve settings. New plugs, cap, rotor, wires. Used a laser temp thing to see that cyl's 3 and 4 were not firing. Pulled the plugs and verified spark. Pulled the fuel injectors and verified fuel although was not sure how much I should actually be getting. Ran through my mind 100 times why #3 and #4 would randomly stop working at the same time. Gave up hope and then came across a posting from Bruce Stone in 2007 stating that the grounds for FI 1&2 and 3&4 were tied together. Unplugged the grounds and plugged them back in and low and behold it ran perfectly. Reset the timing. Wondered aloud why i have been trying to fix this for three weeks and not driving the car. Thanked my lucky stars that it was an easy fix. Cleaned the grounds and put everything back together. Drove it to work in amazement at how something so small could make such a huge difference.

Thanks to Bruce for sharing some simple insight back in 2007 and thanks again for the pedal set I won at WCR in Lake Tahoe! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Yesterday I won the B Mod class at the Florida State Autocross Championship at Sebring. My fourth time winning my class.

I had all kinds of stupid problems; starter, battery, carb, trailer winch, and the mount for the monster wing cracked at the weld. Plus second gear seems to have moved from where it used to be. I hoping the cone screws are loose.

Finally got sick of the noisy Monza exhaust. Ordered new gaskets and nuts and dropped off the original muffler at Finishline Coating for ceramic thermal barrier coating in a raw steel finish.
