Beat up the cars today chasing down other Porsches on the annual New Years Day drive. Porsche of Livermore catered breakfast for 150 drivers and guest. Huge turn out and great road conditions. Drove the crap out of the cars. Kathy was able to keep up with all the six cylinder cars by staying off the brakes and driving thru the corners.

Drivers meeting.

Cars on top of Mt. Hamilton.

A well deserved lunch break.

I seen these two driving down 87 I gave a thumbs up I was on the ducati...

Nothing to the 914. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I picked up a 2000 Jetta for $300 with a major ATF leak. I searched the web and read all the horror stories about pump seals and torque converters...

Turns out the pan was loose and fluid was just pouring over the gasket. 15 minute fix!
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Bought it from a friend when a shop gave them an estimate of $1300 to fix it. My friends took my money and bought a new Jetta. Win, win...

Replaced my broken brake res. cap, turns out the new one is not as deep as the original one. Dangerous to tighten without creaking it easy (again).
And replaced my passenger window crank with an original one after 2 aftermarket ones broke... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Got my newly refurbished trailing arms mounted today! Thanks to Eric and Pmb for putting the new 5 lug hubs on and the new bearing pressed in as well. Next to put on the new calipers and brake Lines from PMB.

Today was the first day in a very long time that I worked on my car myself...

I changed the clutch cable, which is an un-fun job on any 914 but even worse with a full rollcage.

Supposedly Terry Cables don't break... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) (Granted, this cable may have been 10 years old. I went back to stock this time.)

I also installed a Triad muffler I got a while back, in place of megaphones, so I can test drive a bit on the street before heading to the track in a few weeks.

Terry cables do break, I've broken one in my car, and one broke in a buddies. They chafe inside the tunnel because they run unsheathed through a metal tube and under high tension. Mine didn't last long, and I'm going on 3 years of daily driver abuse with my stock GEMO cable..

I didn't think those were going to fit without pulling the fenders. How do they fit?

I was wondering if you had the wide ones on, looked like there was plenty of room, but that explains it.

Do tell about the blue one
