Nice day here in Bogart... I was able to get a coat of epoxy primer and a couple of coats of 2k primer on my steel flare install. Hope to have it ready to paint by early spring.
If you look close you can see all 3 of my 914s

FINALLY my car is back on the wheels!!
Got new flywheel shims from FAT performance today, I installed them and rechecked the shaft endplay and came up with .0046" which is now within spec.!! So remounted the clutch. Transmission and CV' put the new wheels/tires on an out her on the ground! Now I can pull the front tires/wheels and get them shipped off the their new home in Arkansas!

Oh and I forgot to say that I put 195/65 's on these rims and I have over an inch of space yet, I could have put 205's on and had room easily! Now I know what i have space forwith the next pair. i have a line on some decent 15X6 that i am going to put track tires on for taking her to D.E. days at Robeling Road track here in Savanah.

Since the car got stolen and recovered in Barstow, CA, I have been going slow and easy gathering parts again (used or whatever); had very little desire to work on the car except to get the parts to make it legal for licensing. I have made very good progress and now is the time to see if I have everything covered.

Just finishing up the Alfa Romeo Spider, and I did get started in wiring in the front oil cooler fans, fuel pump/DME, mounting oil cooler and ducting, original front and rear bumpers. A relatively slow start but a start. The next thing will be to get the wiring done and go for a start. Car was running but the harness, etc. was cutup gettng the radio out by the "midnight auto supply mechanics".

It is a start; now to keep it going.

I have been driving it for the past 3 days after rolling the rear fenders and lowering it back down to where it should be!

I didn't take a photo but this is what is looked like raised up so it wouldn't rub!

Wow, look at you go, Jim (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumb3d.gif)

Almost finished with all the electrical/electronic work in the Westy. Did a lot of repairs to the electrical wiring 'while I was I there'. Also tightened up every nut, bolt and screw I ran across in the cabinetry - she is tight now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

Swapped out all the incandescent bulbs for LED panel lights, and added a 36" wide Pilot® LED strip across the bottom of the rear air conditioner cabinetry (the photo doen'nt show the luminosity very well, but it really lights up the rear cargo area and the engine bay pretty good).

Attached Image

I also picked up a red 36" wide LED strip to do a third bake light mod (Vanagon tail lights are low to the ground, just like Porsches, ya know) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

The HAM radio gear is all working too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Attached Image

Now to put all the tools away and start cleaning up the rest of the interior (IMG:style_emoticons/default/FERG.gif)

Attached Image

I'm on the hunt for a reasonably-priced set of CLK 16x7" alloys for when I go get some taller off-road tires. PM me if you run across a set (like these)

Installed the proper 911 output flanges to complete my 5 lug conversion using 930 CV’s and Swayaway axles. My thanks to Mark Henry for advise and GMS for correct the flanges .

I think your cup washers are installed incorrectly on the rear trans mounts. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Yep, same orientation, but above the 'ears'. Those are the notched ones for early engine mount bar, but totally acceptable for trans mounting (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Super clean undercarriage (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
