Drove it! My wife's car is at the body shop so I had to drive it all week. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

I do like the colors and accents on this car... It would look awesome with some 5 lugh Fuch wheels. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Thanks. I think that I will end up doing a 5 lug conversion sooner than originally planned.

Jeff, no drips on the ground or the new paint (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) yet...

Installed an AFR gauge. Found my car was running more than a bit rich across the range.

Ended up weakening the dynamic to bring up the WOT reading, and leaning out the static. The Itinerant Air guide is very helpful, but a lot of guessing is eliminated with actual numbers.

What a sucky pic...

Did a bunch more testing to try and get my fuel pump to run as it should. Follow the frustration here http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=240820

This week I installed a new Sony stereo head unit with a front USB for my iPod (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

Well the staycation is coming to an end.

1. Got the engine back in and she fired right up after the fuel system got filled and pressurized. A couple fuel lines needed to be tighten, but still runs like a new car.
Even with one of the lines at the charcoal canister left open.

But then I found the return pipe on the fuel tank was dripping. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)
That's the one I had the thread issues with. So out came the fuel tank, again.
Looks like I could have used another 1/4 turn. But doped her up the Permatex with Teflon thread sealant. We'll give her a week to set up.

2. Then installed the JWest fog light flasher.
Works really cool. But now I'll have to buy some new fog lights from Camp914.

3. Then I stepped up and went after installing my new updated fuse panel. wasn't the Jwest one. Pretty easy to install. The center section that covers the fuse box on the backside is pretty thick. Which makes getting the wires spread side to side is pretty tight.
I may take it out and open up the factory taped up wire bundle and separate them four connections at a time. I also might add a couple 1/4" nylon spacers to give it a little more space for the wires. But she looks nice and tidy.

All and all a good week ...................... too bad it's almost over.

Some early morning tar mat removal. This little weapon helped immensely. Its half scraper half chisel. Definitely the right tool for the job

Unmolested, 17mm master cylinder, getting cracked for the 1st time in 40 years! No, it's not leaking, that's penetrating fluid soaking in overnight. Used a small wire brush to clean up around the threads & got them both cracked successfully this morning... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Now to find my neighbor & get him to sit in the car & pump the brakes... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Finally dumped the pictures from the phone.
Staycation projects completed.

Installed new floor board.

Attached Image

Adjusted the valves while engine was still sitting on the table. I do need to buy one of those stick on 1'*1' mirrors for under gearbox to see the flywheel.
I use the go, no go method. On the 2.0L adjust for 6, then test that the 7 won't go. Same with the 8 with 9. It's an anal thing
I only needed to adjust 3 intakes. Two loose. One tight.

Added some bumper pads to my 2 post lift. old packing foam from something

Pictures of the engine install.

New Super In Law gadget. Worked OK. Might need to be bigger and wrap around the backside to stay in place.

Everything ready to go ..................

Still pulled back the fuel rails

Dropping the car back on the engine

Did run to Ace and bought some new lock nuts for the motor mount bolts.

With everything I tinkered with I was a little paranoid (electrical) on the start up.
But other than those couple issues she ran like new car.

Waiting for the thread sealant to set up on the gas tank. And the rear calipers coming back from plating at Eric's. And a couple rubber bits from Mark.

New fuel pump in the front trunk worked great. Only down side is its really quiet
It's a Performance Electric from RockAuto. I moved it to the trunk so it could be changed on the side of the road. I will carry an additional pump, filter and two fluid line clamps on long road trips.

Summer is winding down in the Willamette Valley. Our rain (and we love it) is due to make a brief appearance this coming week and so I took my car out for a long drive on the back roads today. The parked car photo is taken just outside of the south side of Amity, Oregon. The road shot is Hwy 153, between Portland and Salem for those of you who do not know the area. I also found a nicely named road just north of McMinnville; Northwest Poverty Bend Road connects Hwy 47 and Westside Road. It's a little two lane ditty that is a short but fun drive.

Thanks Joe. My last attempt to refinish the targa top didn't hold up very well. I will take it to someone who can prep and spray better than I can for the next round. The Line-x looks pretty good.
