Took mine over to AAA to double the agreed value on my classic car policy...then came home an reinstalled my rain tray for the harsh San Diego winter weather

Hi sir, just wondering how much did AAA valued your classic insurance? I'm a AAA member for several years but last 2012 I'm paying around $200 with AAA along with my multiple discounts. I did'nt get full comprehensive before. But last year I move my '75 914 to Hagerty and I only pay less than $200 with comprehensive and guaranteed coverage of $15k.

This year it was a whopping $89 for $12k in agreed value---I'd jumped on NADA the other day and 914 values are up so much I went in so they'd re-evaluate, I'm attempting to get it closer to double that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Now if they'd only do the classic policy on motorcycles (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Thanks for the response sir Eric! Not bad $89 with $12K coverage. And like what they have said, you have a beautiful teen!

Installed my homemade D-ring tether for my foot rest.
Installed the seat belt holster. I also took a picture of the screws if anybody needed it.

I removed the rear trunk torsion bar springs the wrong way. The spring hit my finger and I thought I broke it. Fortunately it is not broken just swollen black & blue. I have ordered front & rear struts from Craig @ camp 914.

Can some one post photos of where the mounting points are?

I couldn't open my rear trunk. One of the hinge mounts has broken free. Another 3/4 of the weld has broken so my trunk has lifted up on the drivers side about an inch. So, the lock wouldn't unlock. I screwed around with it until the push button part of the lock came out and I could hear something fell off the back into the trunk floor. I'm thinking I'll have to try to unbolt the two screws on each trunk hinge from the engine compartment. Not sure if that is possible and those torsion bar springs sound pretty dangerous. Anyone else have this happen?

Been there.....
Just ordered JW hinge mounts for the springs... Kinda tricky to install so I may have someone else set the springs.

I have an extra lock that works, but no key.... If you need it let me know.

You should be able to insert a rod through the hole for the push button and unlock the latch. Might have a lot of pressure if the lid is tweaked.

Finished installing my rebuilt/refinished rear brakes.
Pulled the ebrake cables and equalizer too. Equalizer was frozen solid.
Adjusted the ebrake cables. Adjusted the venting.
Bleed the brakes twice. Still just a little soft. So we'll let them rest for a week. Then I'll pump out all the blue fluid and replace with gold. That should get that last air bubble.

After the final bleed and venting check/adjustment I'll install the pad springs and ebrake cable boots. I just ordered another pair of pins and clips from Eric. I used one on the ebrake short equalizer cable.

Painted my gauge cluster, it was pretty crusty. Bad when even your dash has rust.. lol

had to resort to glazing putty and a couple coats of primer to cover the pits, but it turned out alright.

little things to do when its too cold in the shed to paint on the tub.

nothing... yet, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) car is still over at the shop. i'll be going over at lunch to see if i can put in a different MPS just to get it home and go thru the systemt myself since we know for certain the MPS was the main culprit, and the shop really does not have the desire to get up to speed on d-jet tech and i dont have the money to spend $75/hour for them to either. Bob is cool, and did not charge for any thing other than his actual hands on work., and he spent 2-3 hours reading PBAnders stuff after i gave him that info. - how many guys would do that!!!!?? but he's knee deep in a bunch of 911 race prep stuff that pays a lot more than me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)
he did eliminate a lot of things, like the fuel pressure is fine, injectors fine,. AAR not closing al lthe way so i need to source another one of those, and i have Kent sending up a working MPS so i can then go thru the rest of the system. maybe able to drive it next week i hope.
-in the mean time, after selling the Boxster last summer, i've regretted not having a fun daily driver, and have been scanning the ads for a deal- going to look at a '01 911 cab - hopefully news to follow soon (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)

Someone recently listed a few AARs in the classifieds.

Don't toss your old AAR. You can soak it in PB, then apply 12v to heat it up, drain it, then blow it out. Repeat the process until the shaft moves freely allowing it to open and close all the way. Then you have a spare one ready to go next time.
