nothing... yet, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) car is still over at the shop. i'll be going over at lunch to see if i can put in a different MPS just to get it home and go thru the systemt myself since we know for certain the MPS was the main culprit, and the shop really does not have the desire to get up to speed on d-jet tech and i dont have the money to spend $75/hour for them to either. Bob is cool, and did not charge for any thing other than his actual hands on work., and he spent 2-3 hours reading PBAnders stuff after i gave him that info. - how many guys would do that!!!!?? but he's knee deep in a bunch of 911 race prep stuff that pays a lot more than me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)
he did eliminate a lot of things, like the fuel pressure is fine, injectors fine,. AAR not closing al lthe way so i need to source another one of those, and i have Kent sending up a working MPS so i can then go thru the rest of the system. maybe able to drive it next week i hope.
-in the mean time, after selling the Boxster last summer, i've regretted not having a fun daily driver, and have been scanning the ads for a deal- going to look at a '01 911 cab - hopefully news to follow soon (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)

-

It went out early this AM. Slated for Sat delivery, signature required, but we shall see. This is THE worst time of the year to ship.

Changed the oil with Valvoline Racing oil then when into town for an ice cream cone. Beautiful December day in the mountains.

Not really today, but this week I pulled the tailcone off the transmission to figure out what why it kept popping out of first. With the help of my brothers here on the World, it was obvious that a worn slider and dog teeth were preventing positive engagement of the slider and gear. A file and a Dremel gave me a temporary solution that so far works awesome. Car goes into and STAYS in gear just fine now. Time for an autocross soon (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

I had not driven my 6 for about 10 months so I decided to take it for a spin! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

The 911sc 3.0L motor let out a cloud at start up and continued for about 15 minutes. I let it warm up for about 10 more minutes, then took it out and got some new gas. Drove it for about 45 minutes to get the engine to full temp! No more smoke and it ran great!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I think I need to start it more often! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

Sorry, I did not. I suppose I could have done a write-up, but Pelican's article covers it for the most part. Easy peasy, just make sure you have a spare tailcone gasket. As with anything, no promises - you may find that the slider is beyond repair. Mine certainly doesn't have many miles left on it, but for now it serves it's purpose.

Spent the day turned upside down and inside out cleaning up the PO fine wiring work. The plus side is that I probably shaved 5 pounds off the car cutting out multipal butt connectors and old electrical tape

The power wire for the clock was wrapped around the steering colum then to the fuse block. After a drive down Hwy 36 the wire has wrapped around the colum so much it pulled the harness out of the aftermarket center counsel and a bunch out of the fuse block!

Drove the silver one to Irvine Cars & Coffee. Then spent the rest of the day detailing the blue one. Used my Porter Cable RO buffer to cut off the top oxidized layer of paint, then multiple polishings and waxings.

Note dull finish in first pix, and nice shiny ones in subsequent images. Used most of the cleaning products arsenal today!

Then polished the Rivieras, the chrome bumpers, and the chrome exhaust tips, cleaned the targa top, and fixed a rubber window seal.

Then, replaced rear shock tower caps, jack straps, and cowl moldings. Fabricated a metal jack strap bracket too (one was missing).

As I was finishing up, the Fed Ex guy dropped off another box of stuff from 914 Rubber, so lots more to do!

Plugged in the new relays and installed the new horn plunger. I now have fog lights and a working horn. Those will both be helpful when I get the new motor swapped in...

I swapped the 6 from the loud muffler
(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/s9.postimg.org-11125-1419210527.1.jpg)

To the quiet muffler + valance
(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/s7.postimg.org-11125-1419210527.2.jpg)

Much more comfortable at cruising and idle. Also seems to trade a little top end for some low end grunt. It also seems like the carbs like the more restrictive muffler at idle.
