Just frustrated as heck right now and I don't have much time to mess with it. Have to head out for a few days to St Louis for a conference so much for working on it for another week.

Naw, he'll get it sorted out and have a fine running car again.

Let's go back to the beginning ... what all did you change out Phil? (I forgot) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Did you double-check against the trouble-shooting links on Jeff Bowlsby's site?

When you get back to it, check these L-Jet links out:

Bosch Volkswagen L-Jet Fuel Injection Manual

L-Jet Fuel Injection for 912E (also applies to 914 1.8L cars)

Also look for the other trouble-shooting tip articles on the main tech notebook page ( Click here )

really too much to write - everything- BTW its D-jet, 75 2.0. , last issue we did i.d. a back MPS, but never really figured out what was making it so lean that with a bad MPS it would actually run(with the vac hose off). replaced that and spent a week driving and tuning in another mps last 2 drives were showing the A/F right on the money, - TPS set, FI harness was new couple years ago from Jeff B, and mechanic tested all the connections and wires for conductivity etc. i guess the list would be long but fuel pressure- 28-29, fuel is there; a few weeks back when it was at bobs shop and he was sorting thru it for me i had had the same thing happen and i could not get it to start, so i trailered it over to his shop. SO it was exact same issue but at some point the mps failed, we replaced it and it ran- but i still think there is a bad connection somewhere in the system, he also must have messed around enough that it was not doing this . - fyi something similar happened about a month or so before that - one day would not start, same thing, walked away, came back a few hours later and it fired up on first crank! kind of forgot about it because it didnt happen again for over amonth until that fateful day.
-
since coming home from mechanic i have not touched anyting except reset the TPS because he had it set wrong, re-tuned the mPS and put in the new temp sensor- as you remember when i did that (it had quit running i could barely get it to run replaced that and suddenly it ran)-but of course the abient air temp sensor would not do that so i believe it was just a coinsidence - most likely moved the harness enough to cause whatever was shortingout to reconnect so it ran- for a while---
- what i forgot to mention is this week saturday when i whent to drive it and it didnt start, - it almost started at first, but was missing bad, could not keep it running, it died and then i could not even get it to fire at all - and since will not start - that episode, what it reminded me of was when one of the FI ground connections came loose a few years ago and was causing it to fire on one set intermittantly as it was hanging there and barely touching- that is what it reminds me of, but ive rechecked those and they are on their ground connections and ive re-checked the harness connection to the distributor f.i. points as well.

Drove it to church in Long Beach to pick up a food basket to be delivered to a school that we supported for a student(s) family.

What a nice drive along 405 freeway during rush hour (9am) but able to run around 70 and 75 mph.

Didn't take a picture on freeway, you know! No Cellphone while driving!Attached Image

QUOTE(LINGO @ Aug 12 2014, 06:51 PM) *

I spent the last two nights cleaning up my rims. Original rims that haven't been cleaned in 12+ years. I was shocked at how well they looked.

Wow, LINGO. Your wheels look great. I just gave my four-bolt Fuchs a cleaning too but they didn't come out looking that nice. I fear the anodizing is ruined on mine. What product did you use to clean yours?

Sorry for the delayed response. Well I tried a lot of non abrasive cleaners because I was concerned about what I read from others about potential damage but nothing worked until I said the hell with it and used Meguiars Hot Rims Chrome Wheel cleaner. I was stunned at the results after spending hours working with the other cleaners. Went over them twice front and back. I would recommend it to anyone. I never imagined I could get them to this level. I used some simichrome to finish them up with a cloth. I sanded down the brake calipers and painted them red to really give it a fresh look.

After five days of foggy cold rainy conditions I finally got the teener out of the garage! Before driving, I changed my plugs. Love my new spark plug swivel socket. Makes changing a snap!

So nice to get to drive it! In fact, I drove it twice today! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I fought a week long no start condition that turned out to be a cracked ignition switch and a worn out key tang inside the switch. New ignition switch and wrapped the tang with aluminum tape and it works fine.
Gonna have to look for a nice tang for a 75/76. Its the little part that goes from the key module into the ignition switch. Its only the OEM part so I guess it just wore out. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Didn't get the ignition switch replaced in the 'BB' today as planned, but my friend Fred came by and we DID get the trans out of the Tacoma 'parts hauler' (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

Made a lot of progress today. Swapped out the front pads and dreaded rear pads, while getting the brakes all dialed in. Found and picked up the rear bumper tow hook, got everything set up and tested for flat towing of the car. Pulled the seats and swapped out the harnesses for new ones, got the stuff up for the numbers that will be issued this week. This time next week she will be on the he track for DE and Time Trials with the PCA at Chuckwalla. Raceway! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

While working on the brakes at my buddy's shop, the next lift over had some intimidating company. Trans-Am factory 944 race car.

Drove it today, first time it ran in a month --- because for some unknown reason it would not start--- so I finally decided to go out take a look and see if I could figure out anything but thought what the heck try I first , connected the battery and it fires right up (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) . I mean, I didn't do anything since the last 3 times I tried when it would not start. But happy it did. Ran perfect and had a 30 minute drive after it warmed up. But will it start tomorrow that's the question.
