Doing a little "cleaning" for Concours in the Hills on Saturday in Fountain Hills. Will be over 500 cars around the fountain.
Local PCA chapter will have a big selection of P cars, a '73 bahia red 914 among them...

Concours in the Hills today at Fountain Hills, AZ. One other 914, yellow '73 1.7. Lots of good eye candy including a nice replica 550 next to me. I assume it was a Beck but the guy who drove it in had no idea what it was!

Changed the oil, installed Mikey's new side-shift end cover and strap, and replaced a broken accelerator cable (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
If all goes well I will do a few more fixes tomorrow and be off the jack stands for Tuesday (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sunglasses.gif)

And jawja, I'm sure when you came back out, some POS was parked RIGHT next to you and no one else was anywhere close... never fails!

We stopped there for a photo-op during the RT-66 Run in 2008 (up to Winslow).

Ain't that the Damned truth. Back in the '70s Ford was running a commercial that showed people "accidentally" trying to unlock a Mercedes that they had parked next to. The idea being that this Ford looked so much like a Mercedes one could not tell the difference. Right. And just as my luck would have it, I had purchased a MD 300D. I could not park that damned thing far enough away in the mall parking lot. Once I came out and there were Zypher's (Mercury's lable) on both sides of my 300D. Evidently, some people believed those adds. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Refurbished the pedal cluster with bronze bushings. What a difference. There was not much left of the old plastic bushings...

Drove it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Also lifted the front end up on the torsion bars, now it doesn't scrap when leaving the drive way and have less bump steer. Still looks good. I think I had it too low.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) finally nice enough with no rain in the forecast to drive it today- has been under a car cover for the past month, no battery tender, started right up this morning, made the 25 mile drive to work, ran like a top- I do like my heated seats, glad i ordered those from 914rubber when i re-did the seats recently- trying to enjoy this spring weather before having to put the car up on jackstands for the long repair, which will not happen until after we move(have not closed on our house yet-another delay, now pushed back to next week!) - cheers1 finally nice enough with no rain in the forecast to drive it today- has been under a car cover for the past month, no battery tender, started right up this morning, made the 25 mile drive to work, ran like a top- I do like my heated seats, glad i ordered those from 914rubber when i re-did the seats recently- trying to enjoy this spring weather before having to put the car up on jackstands for the long repair, which will not happen until after we move(have not closed on our house yet-another delay, now pushed back to next week!) -
