I'm finally in a position where I could take a Saturday an attend the Rally America, Oregon Trail Rally. So at 7am I head to Goldendale, Washington. I make a quick stop at the Parc Ferme in The Dalles at 9am. Here's a shot of our local Hoosier race tire service owner Garth Ankeny's new car.

I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of folks at Spectator Area #1. My motorsports career started in SCCA Pro Rally in the late seventies. Nothing to exciting, service member and car builder. But back then it was just us participants.

Attached Image

I arrived at Area #2 a little too late. Lesson learned for next year. The walk in was about a mile downhill. All my phone pictures were pretty crappy.

Here's a shot of Garth and David Higgins last years winner.

At the end of the day I covered 354 miles in my 73 appearance group DD. For some reason the fuse to radio blew after crossing the Sandy River at Troutdale. Come find out I had the radio tied to the 7.5 amp #2 fuse. Oh yeah, this was a solo trip so all I had for entertainment was the hum of my self built 2056. What a beautiful thing.

Stats:
Averaged 70-80 mph
Oil pressure 60 psi
195 degrees
36.7 mpg (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif)

Before WCR projects:
Reset rear braking venting
Bleed brakes and or adjust brake push rod
Tires rebalanced, bad spot 63-67 mph
Move shift rod back just a smidgen, need a little deeper shift into 1st.

I dropped the 2.0 /4 motor yesterday afternoon, I think it took about an hour and a half. Split the motor trans today, and finally made up my mind to go /6 power.

I will be selling the GA motor complete with FI. Great motor, excellent compression, but a rod bearing or main bearing let go. I can make a good deal to someone who is looking for an early 2.0 /4 GA block engine. Shouldn't be too hard to fix.

I'm onto my six build, which is where I wanted to end up anyway. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

I added the 3 meter version of BlazeCut for an added measure of protection besides carrying a halon extinguisher. I added some 3/16" rubber padding to the BlazeCut anywhere it touches metal to add some protection against any vibration damage to the BlazeCut tubing and then anchored it securely using zip ties (since I didn't want to drill any holes).

I drove it... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Then I hooked up my flat tow setup and dragged it around the neighborhood...
Tows good but I wish I didn't have locking steering. At least I have a battery cutoff switch. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Engine and transmission got reinstalled in the car today. Installed the front turn signal buckets too. Still lots of work before it's back on the road, but I'm getting close!

Continued disassembling the first of four cars. Cleaning and taking inventory as I go.

The intent is to make two cars out of the four.

Thanks

Looks like a wise move. What name is the 3M product? Where can one buy it?

continued the strip down today. Just about ready to take it outside to jet wash the dirt off the internals (except the cab section) so that i can see if there is any welding needed before getting those areas painted. Then the engine/box can go back in and it's off to the paint shop!!

I just finished detailing the '75 just to drive in the rain for 3 days... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif)

It will be worth it just to get together at Route 66 Classic starting in Flagstaff, AZ and ending up in Prescott, AZ.

I investigated the reason why I seem to only be running on 75% power. I may have found at least part of the problem.

Unfortunately, it's now at about 85% power under load. Wondering if it's a carb issue or something more serious. It pulled like a tractor until it all of a sudden started having problems.
