Started the day with a trip to Discount Tire to have my lumpy tires rebalanced before next Saturdays Oregon PCA Arrive & Drive and WCR.

Then came home and gave the car a good once over with Meguairs Polish/Cleaner. Much better. But still needs some rust abatement of its own, but too much other work in its way. After that was buffed off. Gave it a good coat of wax.

Did end up with a couple spots of wax on the bumper tops. Dammit ..........
But did a web search. Lots of ideas. But I went with Magic Eraser and WD40. Worked like a champ.

QUOTE(mrbubblehead @ Dec 17 2011, 10:07 PM) *

i just wanted to start a thread to see what you guys do day to day on your cars.

i'll start,

about a month ago, i pulled my engine and trans to put in a new clutch. had the flywheel lightened and resurfaced. but what i didnt know is that i had to shim the little ball that the clutch arm rides on, after a resurfacing. so guess what i did today?

yup, pulled the trans and put an extra washer under the ball. you have to goop up both washers to get it to seal because the threaded hole goes all the way thru to the inside of the trans. i also replaced the plastic cup that the ball rides in. the throw out bearing and its little plastic blocks were fine so i buttoned every thing back up. 5 hours total. i think this has been the cheapest repair yet on my car. $2.75 for the little plastic cup.

what did you do to your 914 today?

74 2.0 teener
Dome light did not work. it was broken- but the wires were still on.
so got a new one from new-part.com
and now it works perfect. when doors open it comes on.
i want to replace white light maybe with a blue light.

i also want to replace head lights bulbs and dash bulbs with
led or something a lot brighter without any modification.

any tips?

thanx for everyones help here.

I'll never do it without a navigator again. It's a point to point rally. You miss a turn and you have a mess ........... in order to catch back up you are exceeding the maximum a little more than I like on public roads with lots of rural driveways.

Spent the morning stripping down a damaged DME harness for my 4.0L conversion. I am now sitting in front of a computer typing all my hand written notes into Excel so I have a record of what I am doing.

I am pouring over the 964 wiring diagrams to figure out the end points each wire coming off the ECU.

Not as glamorous as building out the 4.0, but it all has to be done.

I also figured out that I have to put spacers under the back of the passenger seat mounts to clear the ECU once it is installed.

And if anyone out there owns a 964, what the hell is a "Consumption Gauge"????? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Lawrence looks like you got more than Porsche stuff to worry about...some painting to. Just because the sheet rock is taped doesn't mean the job is complete.... What are you thinking about for a color? maybe a nice shade of PINK.

It's not my shop and I don't think he is painting it pink. It's a new building, and it isn't finished, yet he is still taking on my engine build.

Also, I can tell by your usage that you attended public school and right up through the fourth grade.

Impressive.

No less impressive Lawrence, was the way you conveyed your point without using one expletive or political reference.
