Getting the windows tinted today. Odd that a car that spent its life in Arz. Never had tinted windows.

Maybe because non-air-conditioned cars typically aren't driven in the bright/hot summer months in AZ (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Made a bracket to hold up the clutch and throttle cables.

Found two theaded holes not used on bottom of case, inserted studs and made a bracket to mount to them. Now everything is nice and tidy underneath. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Drove it (finally)--dawn patrol up through the Yorktown Battlefield. We were coasting down a tree-lined draw next to Wormley Creek when this landed in a tree just ahead on the right:

Attached Image Barred Owl (I think).

We stopped and watched it watch us for a while, but it took off again right after Terri took the picture. Kind of a long distance shot w/ her phone; pic is about as big/close as I could get it after cropping w/o losing resolution.

This PM I started getting the car ready for her 44th birthday present--a trip to Scotty's shop for an Engman long kit install.

So far, no big discoveries . . . seeing some rust, but also seeing some clean bare metal. 50-50 is good, right? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Wish us luck . . . .

Finished painting the cab area, touched up a run in the hell hole and rimed the driver side door jam and a pillar. The door is off ready to have a couple of rust scabs removed and then painted along with the door surround on the body.

I thought i would have had it fully primed and ready for paint by now but little things keep cropping up and end up taking longer than big jobs.

Still it's not too far off ready.

Well, the wheel repair shop that I took my bent wheel to up in LA said they couldn't fix it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

... so I called around and found a shop in Santa Ana that said they can typically repair what others can't - so that's where I took it yesterday afternoon. When Jeff spun it on the spindle, he thought they could only guarantee that it could get to about 85 ~ 90%. He called another guy to look at it and he said maybe 90 ~ 95% (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

Jeff called this AM and said it's ready. When I got there, he hoisted it up on the spindle again, and damned if they didn't get it almost perfectly true. They claimed it's 98 ~ 99%, and I'm perfectly happy with that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

They cleaned up the minor curb rash too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

It did cost a little more than I was expecting, but since these wheels aren't too abundant these days, I think it was worth it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

I highly recommend these folks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif)

Now it's my turn - need to clean all of them up a bit, and maybe even have them powder-coated ? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

No actual work....

I bought the complete stainless fuel line kit from Rotary'14, looking forward to getting those parts and getting them installed.

Got some new rims, the wife hates them and wants me to keep the phonedials.....we'll see.

Got tired waiting for the factory to do new paint jobs, so I did two of my 914s myself.

Now my collection looks better.

Oh I washed and drove my "real" one as well. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)
