Gary, when did you paint (or plate or coat) your engine lid grille? I never noticed it before (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Obviously, I also think the contrast looks good on dark bodied cars (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool_shades.gif)

Hey Mark, I didn't plate at all. It's actually flat black...a little faded so no reflrction at all.
I kinda like the polished idea....

Pulled the trans and took it apart for a rebuild
. New dog teeth, synchros and sliders. It's a mess right now.
Should be back in action this weekend.Attached Image

I bought one. It is my third 914. My first was in high school. I wish I had taken pictures almost as much as I wish I had it back.
My second was a project. The PO had done a masterful job covering a little metal and a lot of rust with fiberglass. I was glad to get rid of it.
This one is UGLY but it has very little rust. It has spent it's life in California, Nevada, and Arizona. It is another project but it is a good starting point. The worst part is it needs a little body repair on the passenger side fenders.

Did a tune-up on my 1.7. Replaced plug wires with Fyrebriad wires. Wires provides thermal insulation at operating temperature of 850 degrees! I hope it never gets that hot. I like how they dress up and the engine and the wires are not laying on the engine.

Last night ................ (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Took the wife and did the August SCCA Friday night TSD rally. Come to find out these are trap style rallies and a little over our pay grade for ones first TSD rally. LOL.
Only had to call the Rallymaster once. LOL.
Blew by the first check point without stopping, but scored a 37. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)
It went downhill from there. Final score 937. But we weren't the worst. High score 1238.
Winning score 18.

Absolutely bitch'n roads. Had a ball.
Hint : Read the rule book about 3 times and it would make your first rally a little easier.
Us not, cold turkey.

Tonight, driving to Ridgefield for dinner.
Looks like the tuna can and output shaft leaks are fixed.

Last weekend I replaced the whole brake system on Betty's 914 with freshly rebuilt PMB calipers and pads. Grabbed the 17mm master cylinder off the shelf instead of the 19mm. The brakes work fine, but she hates the length of the pedal travel. Putting the 19mm on was supposed to be tomorrow's task. Maybe I can get her to do the replacement, and I can be the helper.

Today I bled all over my new 4.0L engine. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) But at least I have started assembling it.

Lots of useable sheet metal, scalloped and shaped from the once in place narrow fenders, add a bracket=a little triangulation for the dzus mount platforms. Anyone see a spooky face in the inner fender area ¿

Getting a couple of new items installed this week.. New tangerine racing shift kit, and a new 123 distributor without trigger points.. PMB is doing the installing.

Ford Duratec powerplant/ v6 24v. Workhorse of an engine...been around since the mid 90's
Today these variants have gone from 2.5L up to 3.7L (plus big bore kits), also the foundation for the Ecoboost engine (Ford gt, LeMans 2016) podium (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)
I have several customers using MSDS headers , vortec supercharger on 3L
with 5 speed/ quaiffe lsd...stuffed on a Ford contour. 400+ hp on 10 psi boost. Noble gt made a good engine choice (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
