I would just buy the rich Johnson kit.
It's also easy to fabricate an "L" bracket and use the stock cable. The difference is that the stock cable will come into the engine compartment at an odd angle which will make the pedal slightly harder to push.

Pulled right front caliper, blew out the pistons with air (per Haynes - what a simple solution) and rebuilt the unit. Clips that stop the pistons from rotating were missing from both front calipers and got those at 20deg. One more caliper to go then new brake pads ...

Were the calipers that clean to start with or did you spruce them up as well?

They were in solid shape but rusty. The brake fluid that spilled all over them as I was working on them seems to have improved their look!

QUOTE(forrestkhaag @ Sep 20 2016, 03:14 PM) *

I confirmed that the headers I bought from Larmo yesterday would fit my heads and studs for my 3.0SC motor (verses a corvair trick) and then I went to the shop and sand blasted them prior to ceramic coating.

After missing out on a bid for the 914-6 lower linkage yesterday, it occurred to me that if the bellcrank is a duplicate of the 911 upper linkage bellcrank (and it looks like it might be) this is a part-set that could easily be fabricated and sold at half the going rate. Research underway...

Your letting others do the work? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

Sold the white '73 and my 2.7 motor arrived. My wallet is a lot lighter from the Patrick Motorsports order. Who said a /6 conversion was cheap/easy?

No one.

Took the '73 for a drive this afternoon... actually rained here in the morning but doesn't take long to dry out in the desert!

Thanks. Almost as sentimental as my '71. One of my best friends owned it from 1974- we used to autocross together and went to many races at Road America in it or my car.
He died of a rare illness in the early 2000's and his widow said he wanted me to have it. He hadn't driven it for neary 12 years and it needed a total restoration. It's now better than new and a nice tribute to him- I think of him and all the fun we had over the years every time I drive it!

Great to keep his memory alive. Makes it even more special. Again it is one of the nicest looking 914 I have seen.

Actually I saw a darker colour 914 going north on north Pima a couple days ago- may have been you! I was in our white Q5 though...

BTW, my dad got his bahia red '71 914 six months after I got mine way back when. Wish we'd kept that in the family!

Had a local detail shop do a paint correction and ceramic coating on the paint - I usually do my own wax etc but my son had done his GT3 with this treatment and it looked so good I decided to let them at it.

Turned out fantastic- paint feels and looks like glass!

Yes, it's a Porsche!

Installed a negative side decal.Attached Image

Will do other side tomorrow.

Thanks Mikey for the stickers. It's easier to handle this one than the one from ebay.
