Pulled the fuel tank sensor and using tips from here, determined that it is indeed not working correctly. Gets to 1/4 level and stops there. Note to self (and others); if in doubt, always trust the warning light.

Made sure I had a half-tank of gas, pulled the top, and took her out for a little drive. Third week of February in Chicago, and it is sunny, clear, and 67 degrees....

And the icing on the cake; my trip odo which hasn't been reset in at least 20 years, hit this.

Made an adapter so I can run new air filters in my '73 (posted about it here). Then, took my wife out for a nice long drive in the car. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Installed some of the new door rubber today. Did the vent wing first and this had to be one of the more frustrating things I.ve done to date.
I almost want to do a seperate thread on this as Mark.s instructions aren.t detailed enough. Without a doubt ot is easier to take the front bracket out when installing it. Also.....DONT forget to put the front teack adjustment nut on BEFORE putting the front window guide rail in........or you will be doing it twice.

Front bracket.

I had to weld the upper captive nut for the armrest. These seem to break on almost every door I.ve seen.

Finally learned how to do a 914 unresection - that front end minus everything may still be available if someone wants to follow the Mexican banjo's ranchero beat to Ryer Island in the Sacramento River delta...

Went to the in-laws last night for dinner. My car is stored there. Weather has been soooo nice that I took her out for a spin. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Worked on the circuit board under the dash and the positive terminal next to it. Cleaning up all of the terminals on the board.

Sorry Mark... How is everyone fairing in Cali? Seems like Mama N is trying to make up for 5 yrs of drought in one season.

I remember rainy season out there, watching torrents of water pouring down from Mulholland to Ventura Blvd, but nothing like this. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Yeah, and the impending spring snow melt-off is quite concerning. We're already pretty saturated throughout the state (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Been trying to think of things I might have overlooked before dyno tuning the new engine.

It is a good feeling to stop cutting out and start putting back. That's some major surgery right there. That RD front trunk pan is beautiful - looks like you're still working it, but is it fitting in pretty easily?

It is fitting easily. As they state on the RD site, some adjustment has been necessary, but nothing major. The holes for the headlight drain tubes are undersized, as the original pan had flanges bent downward, but that extra operation is not performed on the new pan. No big deal - I just reamed the holes out a bit to fit.

I do want to stress, though, that without this new pan, I probably would have parted the car out instead of being able to save it. It had pretty extensive front end damage, plus holes for the A/C condenser. It was also beneficial that they sell the triangular stiffening parts and the front suspension mounts. Restoration Design kept another one on the road!

I finished up my Carbon Fiber 911 engine "tin" and bolted it up to confirm fit. Strong as all hell and quite lightweight. Fits perfect. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

I also made a bracket for the bell crank on the 911 and powder coated and baked it.
