I started it. Listened to the roar at 4k (MSD rev limit until 1st 500 are under the belt, then shut it down. Instant and excellent oil pressure, Mocal opens up at 180 +/- and the front oil cooler leaks at the bolt on the toip due to lack of sufficient squashage on the washer.

Still awaiting some form of communication on the carb jets. I will find reamers tomorrow and fix the jets myself.

I used a 914 as a coffee table.

Spent the morning at injumort's with AndyB and Porschef watching him reinstall his heat exchangers.

Installed the correct idle jets for the Webers (65's vs. 55's) and the backfire and tail pipe issues are solved. Smooth and solid. The tach adaptor is now working too.

Tomorrow, once on the lift, a clutch adjustment and fine tune of the shift linkage / then put some miles on it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

I'm stalled again ... the brake M/C supply line grommets are leaking, and there's less room to fiddle with them now that the clutch M/C takes up the adjacent hand space (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Not sure how, or how long this setback is going to take to correct (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

I think I'll have to uninstall the clutch M/C and move it to the side to allow me to replace the grommets and seat the hoses. Fuch (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Made a new gasket for the fuel sender since the not so old one had started to crumble. MY fuel sender seems to work ok but for some reason not showing full when the tank should be full. (that or the gaspump trigger stops pumping too early)

Finally sorted out the Webers on the six after a thorough ultrasonic cleaning and reassembly with 65 verses 55 idle jets - the engine was starving with the 55's but not so now....

When they work, they work really smooth and very ferocious compared to four-sound i was used to.

I also installed the air filter plates, gaskets, filters and powder coated rain hats. I now have to figure out the clutch adjustment issues I am having / or is it the new shift rod alignment???

I fitted the seats in after recovering the driver's seat with 914 rubbers seat kit. Not bad stuff to work with.

Sat in it for the second time since buying it over a year ago. Nice bitof motivation since seeing them in.

Going to attempt to replace the two little supply line grommets in the brake M/C today. This will be the 3rd. time I've done this task, but there's not much wiggle room in this area with the additional clutch M/C down there now, so the process should prove to be a pain in the (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bootyshake.gif)

When that's done, the bleeding process for both, the brake system and the hydraulic clutch system will ensue ...

Went out to the garage after work today, thinking I might pull the distributor for a good cleaning. Well, not sure if it was the glass of cab (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wine.gif) or the weather or the fact that I'm still feeling last weekend's affects, but I threw the Mighty Vac on it and the plates moved well in both retard and advance directions, so I figgered it was fine, and that I should probably spend my time doing something even more important.

So, I did just that.

I'm sure the car will go slightly faster with this fine addition. I hope to take it out this weekend to verify...

Did you check the movement once it was fully warmed up? Heat can make those plates stick. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
