Hey Marty ... yes, and they need some TLC too. Got them from a roller that Garold acquired several years ago.

I should have bead-blasted them before mounting tires on them - the paint on them is from a PO, and flaking badly (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

I had to have one of them straightened. Went to two shops in the LAX South Bay area, but both said they couldn't do it.

Found a shop in Santa Ana that did a great job, although a bit more expensive than I was expecting. Still happy with the results.

Great find on the wheels Mark, thanks for the tip on the Wheel Repair shop...need a cookie cutter trued up !

Installed new Temp Sensor and Gauge. Didn't trust the old one. Bought Fahrenheit and send me Celsius (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) .

Anyway the car never went over 82 C, that is about 180 F.

Changed all oil then adjusted the non-working e-brake to functional condition according to McMark's advise.

Drove around the twisty roads afterwards.
That's my buddy Bingo.

We fired up Keith914's 2.7 monster motor today.

Oil pressure good.

Revs at 2K good.

No weird mechanical sounds upon initial fire up. Advance retarded and corrected.

And the obligatory few oil leaks to chase down will happen tomorrow.

All in all, a great day for Keith's hard work and diligence in a conversion to a 911 motor verses a VW 4 motor.

The sound of that motor was beefy and parallel to my 3.0 bone stock muffler on MSDS headers...... but different.

His motor has ported heads and breaths all the right ways... Sounded GREAT!!!

Tomorrow: Lets see..............

I'm thinking on Saturday, we will add one more 914 to the San Clemente parking deck...................... EDDY?

Thanks Forrest for your help and comments. Still struggling with remote oil filter O ring failure. Have a new 3/4" bracket to replace the 1/2" bracket on order - Saturday delivery (?), and will not make this C&C unless surprised with delivery today.

With the help of the great members of this board, finally got my front sway bar sorted so the steering and cornering is no longer a white knuckle experience. Thanks guys!

And for those of you who didn't help, and you know who you are, earned a 5 minute time out. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I repainted the panel below the hell hole where the cables come through from the tunnel. Wasn't happy with the first finish. Much better now though.

I just need to figure out which cable goes through which hole at some point.

Transformation!!

Not today but a month ago my teener grew up a bit. New bilsteins all around and a set of Panasports. Amazing what this combination does to the handling of the car.

AFTER with a little blackout vinyl:

Thought about mine as I looked at this picture of a 914 I saw on the Big Island of Hawaii a few days ago. Barry the owner was a VW fanatic but also owned this 914 and a 911. Really clean well taken care of car.

Testing imgur (as an alternative to photobucket):

On Friday I sent my GT rep for a sleepover with some special friends. Should get it back later this week...

I pounded out the dents in my right rocker panel and bolted it back on while I search for an acceptable replacement. Also, Keith and I refitted my dash knee panel / alot easier with two people involved.

Approaching the 1000 mile mark on the new 3.0 so it is time to change oil and filters.

Thee is always something............ (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

New Bursch installed. Also had new Tangerine Racing flange plates welded onto the heat exchangers; the original flanges were warped and corroded. The car sound like new (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
