Removed ignition cut-off switch (anti-theft) because it was doing its job so effectively, even I couldn’t steal it with the key (the guts fried due too great a current load). Worked great for 3 years and then random cutouts followed by death. Real exciting at 70 on the interstate- everything quits.

Finished welding and tidying up the reinforcement plates on the passenger front side.

I need a new master cylinder as mine has leaked into the pedal cluster (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

Now turned around ready for welding the drivers side and to replace a pushrod tube seal.

Installed new front hood springs from Restoration Design. Used a coat hanger looped over a hammer. It's a tight stretch, even on the rear most of the 3 hooks! Now the hood raises all the way up - no more sag from 47 year old springs - thanks RD!

Also installed new speed nuts and screws on the fog grills. Original ones had mostly rusted away and grills weren't fitting securely.

Gotta put on my new hood springs too. Tryed the leather glove technique and can't see how I could ever stretch it enough to even make the first hook! Might try the coat hanger, but the last thing I want is for something to slip and have the spring turn into a missle!!

Spent the day tearing my 73 Signal Orange apart. So far no surprises. I hope to paint soon. Rodents chewed up wire harness so I will be tackling that later.

You should have let me know, I would have lent a hand. That car looks pretty straight, you should be happy that no one bit when you had it posted 4 sale.

MSDS Marty gave me a tip on the pesky exhaust leak I had at the header/muffler joint. A little copper Permatex, follow directions, and viola, no leaky.....

Also, I figured out what was wrong with my oil temp gauge. The car runs so cool, it hardly registers. I finally woke it up the other day on the drive down to Escondido and Poway.

Now I know it works. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif)

Tomorrow afternoon the car goes to 911 experts (Richard and Tony's shop up in San Clemente) who are going to tune the carbs a bit more, re-torque the heads, and adjust the valves.

Yes, you have some fine roads for driving. It’s pretty there too! Enjoy and be careful!
